707 by George Carty 707.gau file cannot be opened

Featured Replies

Hi group,I guess I'm the only one with this problem since I haven't seen any comments about this great looking aircraft.I can select the plane in preview mode but as soon as I click the button to load the aircraft, I get an error:cannot open GAUGES707.gau file. I checked all the files to make sure they are placed properly, all correct. 707.gau file is in the gauges folder. I downloaded the plane from another web site and re installed it. I checked the panel.cfg for typos, etc. Nothing. It is as though 707.gau file isn't there or is corrupt.Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks,Earl

UPDATEI downloaded the plane agin and installed it on my laptop. It has Win XP Home SP2. The plane opens with no problem on it.By the way, George Carty is great. He is working very hard to try to help find the problem with opening on my Win 98SE descktop simin machine. Thanks George for this great plane. I'm sure he'll find a solution.Earl

Could this be an FSSound issue? Does this gauge rely on that DLL? If so, and if you have not done so, you'll need to make a change to your FS9.CFG file, as documented elsewhere in this forum. Don't have it to hand.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a]

Hey Mark,Thanks for the reply. I can't believe no one else has had this problem. I know there are other Win98SE users.....I do have the FSSound fix:[OLDMODULES] FSSound.dll=1Thanks for trying, Mark. Please, if anyone else has WIN98SE and you have installed this plane with no problems like this, would you please post here so I'll know it isn't WIN98SE causing the problem.Any other suggestions? I'm all out. Thanks guys,Earl

Guys,Please do me a favor and post here if you are running Win98SE and have installed this 707. I need to know if anyone else has this problem and/or if someone else who has win98SE has the plane and is NOT having a problem.I am still trying to think of things to try. I moved the 707.gau file out of the gauges folder and into the panel folder. Got the same error except for the address of the file changed.any other ideas? Thanks,Earl

Hi Roman,Thanks for your suggestion. I had not tried that. I tried though just now and I'm sorry to say it didn't work. Do you have Win98SE perchance? Thanks again,Earl

Hi,Another suggestion,,....Is it that the gauge is dependant on "GaugeSound.dll"?Check if you have that file in the main FS9 folder.Just a thought......:-)http://www.scandicair.com/images/sa_banner.gif"Real men fly with round gauges"

Hi Steffan,Thanks for your suggestion and it was a good thought. But, yes I do have that dll in my main folder. Dated 5-7-03.This is perplexing. I don't usually have problems with addons. I don't have any payware planes or meshs, etc which usually cause problems as I see in the forums.I may have to consider anothe rpanel. Anyrecomendations? Thanks again Steffan,Earl

It is for a KC-135E Stratotanker, but I think it is quite nice. ;-)http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=...hor=&CatID=roothttp://www.scandicair.com/images/sa_banner.gif"Real men fly with round gauges"

Steffan,Thanks for the suggestion and link. I took your suggestion. You're right, this is a very nice panel. I can fly the plane at least. I still want to fix this problem, of course. It is bugging me as to why FS9 won't open this file on my machine. Thanks again for all your help.Have a great day!Earl
