March 31, 20179 yr Commercial Member You get this if you file a Flight Plan and then make changes to it before you call for clearance or if you get clearance and then call for clearance again without re-Filing the flight plan.

March 31, 20179 yr Commercial Member Thanks for the clarification. IFR Release is not the same as IFR Clearance. Clearance is delivery of the approved flight plan. Release is what the Tower does behind the scene at a towered airport to work your flight into the IFR traffic flows. At non-towered airports, you must request Release from Center or Departure control when number one for departure and they will give you a 5-10 minute window to get airborne and check in.. So, when at the runway, you can say "Peter Four Four Seven Ready for IFR Release; Runway Two Seven at Kilo Charlie Golf Charlie". Dave
April 1, 20179 yr Author Dave Thanks for your help. I was saying release but the programe was hearing clearance !! Just tried it a couple of times and finally got the request for "release" to go thru. Amazing program, but a tough one to get use to, Thanks again Peter
