How to continue mid flight after P2A crashes?

Featured Replies

Crashes on P2A are expected occasionally so how do you pickup where you left off if you're in mid-flight? After I load P2A again, load the flight plan it thinks I'm starting at the departure airport again? Any advice?

Generally if you are en-route before being given arrival instructions you can recover after a crash as follows:

  1. Load and "validate" the initial flight plan in P2A
  2. Connect to the sim and be sure your aircraft is on course
  3. "File" Flight Plan - this gives it to ATC as the current flight plan
  4. Find the nearest ATC Center or Approach/Departure frequency and request a frequency change to Center
  5. Make an initial Center call like you would if you had been transferred to a new Center "<CallSign> at flight level 290", for example
  6. You should be asked to squawk a new code
  7. After entering the new transponder code, if you get "Radar Contact", you should be good to go.

Occasionnaly this is not enough to properly recover a fully functionnal ATC.

It happened that the next WP selected by P2A is not the one you are flying to. Here is a workaround one can try:  after the initial contact, ask a direct to procedure to your next aircraft FMS active waypoint using <callsign> requests direct to <ICAO WP>
