Autopilot Speed Ref

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if the autopilot speed ref mode and flc mode are modeled (correctly) in the Cheyenne.

Thanks, John

The KFC-300 never had an FLC mode.  It's a 39 year old design.  I'm not sure anything had FLC back then.  It did have a Speed Profile mode such that if you engaged it at the proper climb speed it would maintain the correct KIAS throughout the climb (decreasing KIAS as the airplane gained altitude).  And no, SPD PRF is not modeled at all in the Carenado Cheyenne.  The button doesn't function.

Don't know why so many sim pilots are fixated on the FLC mode. Haven't come across any real plane where this mode works without very uncomfortable pitch and vertical speed oscillations.

FLC can be even dangerous in autothrottle equipped planes during altitude capture.
