I'm new to P2A and checked the manual and this forum.

What is the correct way to set up P2A for flying circuits and/or local VFR to same airfield within 25 about miles.

Just fly without a flight plan like you would in the real world. 

Make the appropriate calls for taxi, takeoff, etc.  When you ask for takeoff permission, you can add "to remain in pattern".

Then call downwind and follow tower instructions to call turning final, etc.
