Ryzen + RX580

Recommended Posts

Anyone running something like a Ryzen (any variant) + RX 480 or 580?

Very curious how well XP11 runs on that..Does it take advantage of lots of cores?

Just to give you a idea of performance you can expect with a Ryzen CPU paired up with a nice GPU.

Ryzen 1800x 4.3GHZ, 1080 GTX, 43" 4K monitor.

Visual Effects-MAX

Texture-MAX

World Objects-MAX

Reflection-LOW

AA-2x SSAA+FXAA

Shadows-Off

Any default Clouds, very little impact on FPS

Default 172

FPS 25-30ish in Los Angeles metro area

FPS 35-45ish outside of heavy autogen areas.

According to HW monitor, all 16 threads have activity !

I am really happy with the performance from my Ryzen CPU and 1080 GTX ! And the performance should only get better with Vulcan in the future !

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 6800XT, Ram - 32GB, 32" 4K Monitor, WIN 11, XP-12 !

Very exciting to hear!

In the heavy LAX area, are you using any 3rd party scenery/add-ons/etc?

I'd like to se how that compares to my 4790k + 1060 6GB combo right now..

Only default scenery and I was using ortho4xp but I deleted it last night. The default scenery is a little more taxing, so downtown LA with above settings 22-24 fps.

i am using a ryzen 1800x now at 4ghz with 32gb of ddr4 at 3200mhz with a 1080ti, i am very impressed, i have everything maxed out accept for shadows and i get between 45-55 fps, i am using 3 1080p monitors, but i plan on moving to a 2560x1440p monitor for my center screen in the near future. i am very happy with my ryzen, i was so thrilled to get away from intel for awhile. i hope threadripper makes amd even better. one of the threadripper cpu's will be a 12 core 24 thread cpu at 4ghz boost clock.i do video editing so as of right now my 1800x is my sweet spot.

X-Plane performs great on Ryzen, but X-Plane doesn't take much advantage of the additional cores. They're mostly used for streaming in more scenery as you fly and when initially loading a flight.
