Spartan VC gauge resolution

Recommended Posts

I am really enjoying flying Milton's Spartan -- quite a challenge to fly and land properly. But I have noticed on my machine that the gauge resolution (clarity) in the VC is not as clear as in his Beechcraft D18. It is difficult to tell the difference between the 2D panel and the VC in the Beechcraft - absolutely excellent VC - but not so (for me) in the Spartan. Is there any setting that perhaps I don't have set correctly?Any help much appreciated. Thanks Barry

Barry, as much as I love the spartan, visibility generally in this airplane is a challenge due to the window configuration on the airplane. I find myself using VC a lot for landing with 2D for take off to see over that big snout. I hadnt noticed the gauges being that much of a problem...though I do adjust my seat so that in VC Im more centered.eric

Thanks for that -- if you have Miltons D18 installed, can you please compare the VC in both a/c and confirm for me that the Spartan is not as clear as the D18. If not, then I have a problem here at my machine. Thanks Barry

Guest Milton

Barry,About the time I was mapping the Spartan VC panel for gauges, all the forums were a-buzz with xml model-encoded gauge smoothness, and how every other designer better get onboard or be left behind. :-)When I had to decide whether to split the panel for two 1024 maps (and therefore 2 vcockpit sections and maybe a little jerkiness), performance won over clarity. The Spartan is less heavy in many ways than default aircraft (model, VC, etc) and the frame rates are good even on older units. The smoothness forum talk and naysayers for "the old way" made the decision for me. You should have smooth gauges at the expense of crispness on the Spartan.I hope you can enjoy it in spite of its shortcomings.

>I hope you can enjoy it in spite of its shortcomings.Hi Milton - and thanks for replying .ABSOLUTELY - I can enjoy it! :) I understand the difficult decisions that you designers are forced into to try to achieve "balance" in your creations. I think you have achieved it in all your a/c. But anyway, the VC gauge smoothness in your Beechcraft D18 is fine by me , even if it has 3 VC sections. I find that it only becomes a bit distracting in a/c that have 7-8 VC sections. Please keep up your good work. Regards Barry
