Any reason not to uninstall BEV after getting GE

Featured Replies

I have just purchased and installed GE and before that I had three BEV titles. As far as I'm aware of BEV have no advantage over GE.So I suppose I might as well uninstall my BEV I mean why let it occupy disc space? Or do I forget something?

You are suffering from the "I paid for it so I must keep it" complex.Everytime I do a fresh install of windows/fs2004, about 2x a year, I end up deleted a few paywares I just do not use. All it did was take space and clog up the sim.I have huge HD so space is not a problem as I have 2 versions of fs9. The old one I keep so I can rob pieces and parts, planes, sounds ect.So I say if you have the space, keep BEV or if not, to the recycle bin it goes....

Yeah, well... I, too, have a massive hard drive dedicated just to FSim. Like the original poster, I also have all the BEV seasons (except for Spring, which hasn't been released).Like a good boy, I used the BEV Configurator (v2) to re-install my default/original textures. Then I installed GE2006. Worked perfectly and am seriously enjoying it. *BUT*... I have *not* uninstalled BEV. Why? Well... FS9 is not your average application/game. BEV isn't taking THAT much space; and, quite frankly, due to the intricacies and volatility of FS9, I'm reticent to uninstall all the BEV seasons for fear that the uninstaller might remove something that it shouldn't.What do I say? Restore your original textures using the configurator. Keep BEV if you have the room. After all, you know how these things go. In 60 days, the BEV creators might come out with something to top GE2006, and then you'll be whining about how you "messed up" by uninstalling BEV so that you could do a simple upgrade. :)

Hey JTEK99, You hit the nail on the head. I did exactly the same. You never know what FS9 will throw at you. By the way, when you did restore all of the default textures with confiuratorII, did you select each season and apply seperatly? This is what I did to make sure. I assume this is what had to be done. Things seem to be working fine on my end, but like I said, you never know with FS9. Have a good night.

moss1:I did exactly that (even though I might not have had to). I restored each season separately; and I, too, have had not problems with GE at all. I haven't applied their Autogen update, though; quite frankly, I love the way GE2006 looks *as is*, fresh out of the box, as it were.Have done more VFR flying in the last few days than I have in the last month. Great stuff!
