March 3, 200620 yr hi,http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/143885.jpgmy railroad texture is replaced by a terrain texture strip in every season. i checked the v_railroad.bmp and railroadsu.bmp, they look as usual. what could cause the problem ? i checked it on diffrent landclass files all over europe.thanks, regards, tom.
March 3, 200620 yr Hi,As far as I know, they are the powerlines. I have those strip too and disabled the powerlines Location: Vleuten, The Netherlands, 17.3dme SPL 108.40 | Simulator: FS2024 System: AMD 7800X3D - Gigabyte X670 - RTX 4090 - 64GB DDR5 - 2 x 2TB SSD - 32" 1440p Display - Windows 11 Pro
March 3, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi there, yup, those are the powerline right-of-ways, along which FS automatically switches to a texture without autogen objects. You can actually see one of the towers above the aircraft.I agree that in some areas of the world, particularly where it's flat, they look odd. However, in forested and mountainous regions, those cut corridors accurately portray reality as a look at Gooogle Earth will reveal.Cheers, Holger
March 3, 200620 yr Is there a way to make those corridors transparent? Like the Towers, can't stand those corridors. :)Allcott
March 3, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi there, make a backup copy of your terrain.cfg in the FS9 root folder, then open terrain.cfg in Wordpad, scroll down to Texture.1211 and Texture.1212 and replace both instances of MaskClassMap=1 with MaskClassMap=0And if you *really* like the towers you can increase their density by decreasing the ObjectSize= parameter in the Autogen.0.0.0 section for utility lines further down in terrain.cfg. The value (default=600) gives the distance between towers in meters.Source: Terrain Config File.doc of the Terrain SDKCheers, Holger
March 3, 200620 yr http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/143910.jpg(distance 200 zoom 0.80)Awesome Holger,i had never discovered that myself, i googled around and looked in all kinds of forums. thanks a lot !regards, tom.
March 4, 200620 yr Hi Holger and others, I don't have those segments. My terrain.cfg stops numbering at 1101. Am I missing something? I have American Data Roads etc. Could that be a problem?

March 4, 200620 yr An update: I DO have that section. If you open the terrain.cfg in Notepad it is there, but if you open the file in Ken Salters's FS9 Configurator, everything after 1101 is missing. Must be a bug in the program. Thanks
April 15, 200620 yr I can see these powerline corridors frequently, however, I cannot see any powerline towers associated with them. In fact, I cannot see any powerline towers in any of the areas I am currently flying in (mainly Europe)I have the following entry in my terrain.cfg:// utility lines[Autogen.0.0.0]AutoObject="054382ec5h,04a43b1bdh,05f4f1aaah,0c3569352h"ObjectSize=600ExclusionWidth=20ClipData=1Offset=0Density=100PlaceOnWater=0MinAutogenDensity=20Also, I think the tower bmp. is called gen_powertower01.bmp and I do have this in my main fs9texture folder.Would be very grateful for any assistance.Scot
April 15, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi Scot,I do see the towers and my vector autogen section in the terrain.cfg is exactly like yours. The other sections to check are the utility corridor entries, specifically the VectorAutogen=0 setting.[Texture.1211] // utilityType=3Size=4ExcludeAutogen=1MaskClassMap=1VectorAutogen=0Textures=utilitymask.bmpRenderToTexture=0[Texture.1212] // utilityType=3Size=4ExcludeAutogen=1MaskClassMap=1VectorAutogen=0Textures=utilitymask.bmpRenderToTexture=0Other than that I can't think of a reason why those towers wouldn't show, particularly if you see the corridors. I don't know for sure which object library contains those towers but I assume it's Generic.bgl in SceneryGenericscenery. Cheers, Holger
April 16, 200620 yr Hi again Holger.Just where would the FS community be without your great knowledge and commitment to helping others? Thanks for the pointers. My Texture 1211 and 1212 entries are exactly the same as yours so I did some further testing.Using EZ Scenery I confirmed I could place the powertowers which are part of the Generic.bgl. No problems there. As a last resort I let FS9 rebuild my fs9.cfg and lo and behold the powertowers are now displaying. I have not made many changes to my original fs9.cfg. As far as I am aware, just the normal performance tweaks, some changes to the runway lights scalars and a couple of .dll entries under [OLDMODULES]I will do a file compare and rebuild the basic fs9.cfg step by step until I find the culprit. When I can identify the problem in the .cfg I will post details. Thanks again for your assistance.Scot
April 16, 200620 yr Hi Scot,I think this is the variable you're looking for:TERRAIN_USE_VECTOR_OBJECTS=1R-
