P3D V3 doesn´t startup because of missing api.dll. But it isn´t missing. Please help.

Recommended Posts

Hi community,

about one or two weeks ago, I noticed, my scenery and simobjects folder of P3D V3 disappeared. So I tried several things and also reinstalled P3D V3. I unistalled it, deleted all P3D V3 files and installed it again. But everytime it says, P3D V3 can´t start as the api.dll is missing. But when I look into my P3D folder, there is an api.dll. So I donwloaded one from the internet and tried to get it started with this one. No success. What could that be? It always says, I should reinstall P3D V3, but I´ve done so for literally 6 times now!

Using Win 8.1.

P3D V3 in C://Lockheed Martin. So far, no addons installed as I reinstalled it. Would be very thankful for answers.

Thank you so much:)

You do not have the correct version.  The API.dll is what makes P3D (or any app) startup.  It can be there but, if it is not the correct or same version as p3d.exe, it will not startup.

Best regards,

Jim

It will probably work occasionally.  Right click the api.dll, select properties, and look at version.  Then right click on P3D.exe, select properties, and look at version.  Make sure they are from the same version.  The client installer should have both files so you only need to uninstall the client and reinstall the client.
