September 21, 20178 yr I am using VA 7.41 & P3dv4. When I enable VA at KCDN, an uncontrolled airfield without first filing a VFR flight plan it goes through the initialization procedure but then "hangs" at a point where the VOXATC panel states, "completing setup". I wish to simply fly patterns at this airfield and to announce my intentions and position as I do so. When I disregard the announcement in the VA panel and press the zero key no options appear for local flights and/or pattern work, probably due to the hangup. When I tune the local unicom I hear other pilots announcing their respective positions around the airfield. I can successfully contact the local unicom and they acknowledge my transmission. When I ask for a field advisory prior to taxiing they are unable to hear my request and I receive a "disregard" msg in the VA panel. When I announce my movements and positions on the local unicom nothing appears in the VA window again probably due to the hangup If I file a flight plan from KCDN (Woodward Field, Camden, SC) to Columbia Metro (KCAE) and then enable VA it goes through its initialization and continues on correctly asking me to contact my local FSS to open the plan. After opening the flight plan I can proceed with the other necessary communications. Is there a way to bypass this procedure and perform local operations, announcing your intentions and position? The VOXATC manual has a section dealing with departing a Unicom Airport however I cannot seem to operate successfully without first filing a VFR flight plan even though I wish to remain at the airfield. Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! John . John
September 21, 20178 yr I've never tried it but my understanding is you need to use advanced mode to accomplish what you are after. Otherwise, you always need to load a flight plan for VoxATC to work properly. Kent i7 4790k @4.7Ghz 32Gb DDR3 1333 RTX 2070 GPU Win10 Pro

I’ve saved it as “pattern flight” and I just load that when I want to practice take off and landings. I have yet to get bugged from flight service for failing to close my flight plan.
September 26, 20178 yr Author Thanks fellas. I guess I'll do the same as Mad Mac. Seems to be the easiest "work around". John John
