VFR in expert mode - how to request landing?
OK, steps for contacting the tower. (most communications start with who you are talking to, followed by who you are, then where you are, some times you have to add a with statement, then what you want to do, 1. Listen to ATIS 2. Say, blank tower Cessna 7274 Hotel 3. If you stop here the tower will respond, "Cessna 7274 Hotel Go ahead" 4. Cessna 7274 Hotel 15 miles Northeast Southern Wisconsin Regional at 3 Thousand 5 Hundred 5. With Information Blank (When you listen to ATIS it will give you a code to prove you listened ie Alpha, Echo, Lima, etc.) 6. Landing Southern Wisconsin Regional After all of that the tower should give you instructions for entering the pattern.

New to VOXATC
Hi Kent, I'm not sure how much you've already figured out. #1. Regarding the training window, VOXATC comes with training scenarios you can load and listen to to get a feel for how the program works.#2 I'm not sure why your Beaver X wasn't recognized. You do have to run the indexer almost every time you add anything to your sim. Especially new planes. If the Beaver was added after VOXATC that could be one reason why it wouldn't show up. #3 If you do not disable or turn the volume way down on the default FSX (or P3d) voices you will hear both when tuned to ATIS, this can be distracting and annoying. You must have a flight plan loaded in order for VOXATC to work properly. If you don't use expert mode (which, if your not sure what Utopia is, you should not) VOXATC will cue you on which frequencies to turn to, and it will prompt you on what to say. Utopia is a generic Flight Service Station (FSS). You contact them to open and close flight plans. Certain airports have FSS named after nearby cities. Examples are Green Bay, Fort Dodge, Kankakee, etc. If you have a flight plan loaded, fly toward a towered airport, tune to the airport at 20 to 15 miles out, VOXATC will instruct you to tune to and listen to ATIS. After that it will tell you to tune to the tower. Hope this helps.

ASN SP4 B5833 wrong wind in LPPT
Mad_Mac replied to aua668's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumThis is just an interesting story related to this topic. I'm not really looking for a solution, as I've had hundreds of flights without this issue. I was practicing for an actual X-Country Flight I intend to do later this month: KETB KMSN KDBQ KJVL KETB. I was using P3d v3.2 and Active Sky Next 4.1. I flew the legs consecutively, loading the next flight plan right after exiting the active at each of the airports on the route. On leg 3 I flew a standard pattern for runway 32. When I turned on base, I noticed that I was having to crab considerably to hold my course. When I turned on final I wasn't seeming to make any progress toward the runway (I was in A2A's C172). I used Foreflight to check my ground speed, and it read 24 knots I raised my flaps and gave it a little more gas. The wind seemed to pick up as I approached the runway. At full power I was able to touch down with a ground speed of 12 knots. In Active Sky the Metar was showing wind 300/100. The actual Metar for KJVL at the time was 300/10. Resetting P3d and Active Sky fixed the problem. Talk about wrong wind!

can VoxATC be installed in p3d v3 ?
I have also used the Estonia Migration tool and have it working in v3.2. I did have to update FSUIPC before it would run right, but have flown several flights without a problem.

Pactice patterns with VOXatc?
Hi DocFlying, I've never seen a list. I flew for years in the standard mode before switching to expert. I still go back if I get in trouble. It can be very picky at times, but short of VatSim, it is the closest thing to real ATC that I've seen.

Vox ATC issues need resolving
What Glynn said is VOX ATC will use aircraft (paints, models, etc) from a traffic program you install like: My Traffic X or 6 or any other. You must run the VOX ATC indexer after installing the traffic program for this to work. VOX ATC only controls the traffic it generates. If you have FSX or another Traffic program create traffic VOX ATC will ignore those aircraft and you must dodge them on your own. You will also hear a lot of traffic talking over each other, and you.

Pactice patterns with VOXatc?
Expert is supposed to be more flexible, and your phrases should work. One it definitely recognizes on Downwind: "(Call sign) Left (or right depending on pattern) downwind for runway __ full stop this time."

Demo problems
Thanks Dave, I will wait for the release of v2. This is quite an ambitious project. I'm primarily interested in the interactive voice capability, as I have found a way to connect Foreflight directly to the sim to address navigation and other issues. Will there be a way to automatically load the current flight plan from the simulator into pilot2ATC?

Demo problems
Having several issues with the demo in P3d v3. 1. Refers to West Bend Municipal as Wesaint Bend Municipal (Airport is my home airport in real life in West Bend Wisconsin). Unable to open my flight plan by contacting FSS (it did give me local weather information, which I did not request). 3. Flew to Dane County Regional (Madison, WI). Contacted Approach on 120.1. Was informed, Madison Approach is on 120.1. Double checked 120.1 was active. I also made it back up frequency just in case. I continued to receive the same message. Same thing happened when I tuned to Madison Tower 119.3. After landing and exiting the runway I attempted to contact ground with no response. It seems to be connecting to the sim, but overall a less than satisfying experience.

Loading new Flight Plan
That worked! Now I can pick up gas, passangers, stretch the legs... and not have to exit and restart the game (a pain if you're using Megascenery). Thanks a lot.

Loading new Flight Plan
Thanks for the quick response, I will try that and post the results.

Loading new Flight Plan
I've tried using this procedure, and I still get calls based on the previous flight plan (The one I just flew and closed before disabling Vox ATC). Even closing the flight plan, disabling Vox ATC, backing out to the Main FSX Free Flight page, loading the flight plan there, hitting fly, results in the same problem. The only solution that has worked for me is to close the game and restart it (A bit of a bother). Is there some other way to continue on from the airport one has just landed at?
