can VoxATC be installed in p3d v3 ?

Featured Replies

I no longer have p3d 2.5 on my system, i was wondering if it is possible to install VoxATC into p3d v3 somehow, maybe by making some fake directories then installing it then moving the files around manually?

I have tried years ago free time limited VoxATC in 2.5 and it was IMO by far the best ATC experience ever. After that I left Flight Simiming for some real flying, well now I'd like to get back to it as with v3 of p3d some good advancements have been made especially in the OOM area.

What I like the most of the program is that it creates its own AI Traffic which is much more FPS friendly then this created by MT6 (perhaps because it doesn't spawn too many AI Aircraft),  and of course the Voice Recognition.

If not I guess I will have to wait for official p3d v3 version.

Thanks

Andy

PS Actually it was MT5.4b or something like that back then but yeah much better performance when VOXATC created the traffic using MT Aircraft then having MT doing it.

My solution :

create P3DV2 directories Linked to P3DV3 (for the software directory, in appdata\roaming\Lockheed Martin and programdata\Lockheed Martin) with :

mklink /d "XXX\Prepar3D v2" "XXX\Prepar3D v3".

Then install... And it works !

I read your post in the previous topic if you wouldn't mind to dummy it down for me lol, not really understanding what "mklink " is ? A DOS command ?

What I have now is what normal install gives you

D:\p3d3\ Main install directory then: two others one under appdata in c:\ users etc.. And the second in c:\programdata

So in the appdata\locheed Martin\prepar3d v3. Do I just create another folder prepar3d v2 ? Same in programdata\locheed Martin\ also make new folder for version 2 ??

Well that's why o need or dummies down a little lol

Thanks

Andy

Having problems installing it. I've made the links as above and even got a reg entry for v2 pointing to the v3 folder. When I install it just configures for steam fsx though. If I run the simulation selector from the install directory it only has steam fsx listed. Any thoughts guys?

Thanks

Well I just installed it over the weekend work flawlessly for me there was one window durring initiall that told me Registry path to simulator is broken or something in these lines and presented me with list of of various sims so FSX-steam FSX P3D1 and P3D2 in the P3Dv2 secion I simply chose path to P3Dv3 oh gosh now i dont recall but i think it closed restarted set up and it installed in p3dv3 no problem and everything seems to be working OK flown a short flight from CYUL to CYYZ lots of AI-aircraft at both airports and enroute so it seems to work very well for me.. i think I will buy it :)

I wonder do you have FSX-Steam installed maybe that's why I only have p3dv3 nothing else

The only thing prior to install was run these pesky mklink commands nothing else. once every capital letter and space and what not was correct it did create the darn directories

Andy

I run my P3Dv3 on my  P drive. ( I know, lot of drives)

I've tried all the above, mklink was setup okay, got migration tool enabled, but indexer only runs for 2 seconds and is stuck on P:\prepar3dv2 and will NOT budge.

Do I keep the mklink command opened when installing VOXAtc?

Extremely annoying that this has not been updated properly.     I can get it to install via Migration Tool but the problem there is, you have to put the tool to Enabled EVERY time you want to make even a minor change in any VoxATC settings feature.    So I installed again using MLINK's since I had to do that was EZDOK camera and it installed just fine and I was able to setup all functions but it will not go beyond voice testing.   Once it finishes testnig all the TTS voices it displays  6.52 Initializing and it never proceeds beyond that point and I already know why.

The VoxATC index is only indexing my SimObjects folder.    It isn't indexing the Scenery and Add-On folders.   This process should take quiet a bit of time but right now it just indexes the SimObjects folder then finishes.   As a result VoxATC has no idea where it is in the world and thus can't complete the inititilzation process.    I don't know how to force it to index everything.. It's driving me nuts!   T_T    This is making me inch one stop closer to Pro-ATC X and I really don't want to switch.  Nothing beats Speech Recognition.   Anyone know how to get it to actually scan the entire Prepar3D 3.0 folder structure like it is suppose to?

Strange I have it working fine . Had it all installed v2 first . Then renamed all the v2 folders . Created mklink directories had to do it for app data / program  data and main directory , Then run scenary indexer and went all the way through . Did various other options before whish would  hang on indexing . Still a F.O bug that does not change the radio automattivally but useable. A new version is on its way I have heard.

Yeah it is strange.   I don't have version 2 anything on my computer anymore.  It was wiped clean.   Guess I'll have to continue to wait it out.    Pro ATC-X sounds good but it has two major dings against it in my book;   No Speech Recognitiion and it's not smart enough to control traffic on the ground.

  • 2 months later...

Just flew my Brandy-New Legacy v2 WITH VOXATC!!!... Via the new Estonia migration tool.

Now we all know that the new RealAir Legacy v2 installs outside of the P3Dv3.1 directory… So how the dickens did the VoXATC Installer know to include it?… And configure itself so that it ran on this aircraft???

..from Beautiful Orbx Palm Springs to Las Vegas, and even got my cute lil AT&T Brit First Officeress to work the radios… Kinda Sorta...she responded, but didn't tune the radios of my dual GTN750s.... I had to do that.... Then she just quit responding.

I had to revert back to PIC, whispering yet... because my wife is sleeping in the next room, and sure as heck wouldn't cotton to the notion of my flying with a shemale copilot… but I got all the approach, and tower responses recognized...got cleared to land on an ILS approach to KLAS 10L...only to discover that Las Vegas had lost its runways ...they CAVED IN right in front of my eyes just before I hit 500 feet AGL… thanks to Orbx ...I think...

I had to declare a missed approach and VoxATC vectored me around to 30° off 10L again and then had me contact the Tower when we hit the localizer....I did, when It did, switched my AP to NAV, then APR... And that lil 'ol 10L ILS signal just sucked us down..sweet and centered and descending at 400 ft/min...."Landing!"... the holes that used to be runway… phehhh!

It was a rough landing, I can tell you...thank yew Goodyear, and the Legacy's carrier worthy landing gear..."Turn off at the nearest runway and contact ground...", Sez VOXATC..."Yeahhh...youbetcha!", I hissed back!..."I'm done for the night!...as soon as I get my britches unstuck from the crease where my butt was grabbing!"

But that's another matter; so I had a successful flight in an aircraft that shouldn't have been recognized by the Vox ATC installer because it was actually installed outside of my P3dV3.1UPGRADE(all three installers, main, xxx, installed weeks ago, and finally the 3.1 scenery last nite. I forget the xxx one, but it HAD to be installed with Main) . Note, that KBUR was also sunkin AFTER the install of SCA a day after it came out...see my KVETCH about it and the so called "extensive Photorealistic" mix with ground objects and Caca-Mamie LC...I documented a comparison with MegaScenery, and GoogleEarth shots of KBUR with Animated GIF Screen shots, on the Orbx Fforum....http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/108266-southern-califirnia-problem-with-kbur/?do=findComment&comment=977372 Holger... just didn't seem interested.

I guess I have to UN-install Orbx SCA and reinstall, because I don't have any pits in the earth using MegasceneryX Southern California and Northern California( interestingly Orbx Northern California and PNW worked just fine last night) ....so I KNOW it's not my umtiUmp GBs of FSGENESIS ...I was a Premium-for life...member, and just sucked the FSG site dry...God bless ya Justin, wherever you are!

Go figger!!

Cheers Capt. KMan et al,

I updated migration tool and instaled VoxAtc without any problems.

I have experimented with the other atc offerings, and reinstalled Vox into P3dv3 using the migration tool, and it is the easiest and so far the "best" one for me.

I think I will stick with it for now. It seems to work fine in P3d.

I have also used the Estonia Migration tool and have it working in v3.2. I did have to update FSUIPC before it would run right, but have flown several flights without a problem.
