Passing the check ride

Featured Replies

HiI have tried several times(close to 50) but I am unable to pass the first Private License check ride (due to the sensitivities of my joystick that I can not and don't want to change) . Is there a way I can enable the auto pilot for this ride?Stelios

pardon my curiosity--why?

Passing the FS checkride can be a challenge as it's rather picky on your flying. The hardware certainly has to work properly and your sensitivities have to be set so that the plane feels comfortable to fly.I believe there is no possibility to enable autopilot in those checkrides. That's just the way it is.

In a word. Nope. You can't use the AP for the check ride. I passed a RW checkride with no sweat (OK I sweated a bit but it was 92F :)) but I have yet to pass any of the MSFS check rides. Just fly your best and rate your own performance. That's what I do. The check rides in the sim leave a lot to be desired. You also have to remember that there's a difference in scale between a joystick and a real yoke. Your joystick only has a couple inches of travel from stop to stop. Compare that to a yoke in a real airplane which has about a foot or more travel. The joystick has to pack the entire deflection range of the real yoke into those two inches. That's bound to make it touchy in comparison.

..............Or if you just want the certificate, go into your root folder and just print it?Dave T. .........On the Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/

The worst thing about that checkride is that it resets you back at the starting position as soon as you fail. So you constantly keep "practising" the first part and when you finally get through it and get to the second part, it comes as a complete surprise cause you never tryed it before. Of course, you fail and find yourself at the begining and with the first part waiting for you again!!!Considering that, the best exam, BY FAR!, is the one that comes with Flight1 c172R!http://www.fspassengers.com/images/banner/sig/sdc8.jpg

Glad I read the rest of this post!! When I read the first few lines, I thought you failed the REAL private pilot checkride 50 times...whewTim

It is frastrating because by just moving the joystick a little the plane responds wildly. I suppose you are right about the joysticks compared to the real yokes.Anyway maybe I should have some ouzo or whiskey at hand the next time I try this, it might help.Stelios

I can't stand the flight lessons included, especially Rod "This Isn't Going So Well" Machado. ricardo

>I can't stand the flight lessons included, especially Rod>"This Isn't Going So Well" Machado. >>ricardoI had that happen when I was about two seconds from touchdown in the jet checkout. I was just bracing for contact when Rod's chirps in with his "This isn't going so well..." and poof, that was it. Grrrr.
