DC-6 Balair Livery

Featured Replies

In the historic timetable link I posted previously, there is generally nothing for Balair during the sixties and seventies (the livery is dated 1966). Since we have this livery, I would like to fly some of the actual routes this airline flew. I have Googled and only discovered recent entries about the now defunct airline. Does anyone know what routes they flew their DC-6's?

My system specs: Intel [email protected] - 5.2 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB  DDR4  RAMNoctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler,1TB Seagate SSD, 4TB Seagate HD, Windows 10, Asus 32 inch monitor, Saitek Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Rudder Pedals and Trim Wheel     Sims: MSFS2020      Preferred Aircraft  Black Square Bonanza, and Baron, A2A Comanche, PMDG DC-6, Red Wing L1049

I have not found any timetables. I found a map of destinations but that covers all Swissair and Balair flights, but no details are given. At that time Bale, Geneva and Zurich were their flight origins. I guess they serviced the major cities in Europe and did also long distance flights to North or South America and Africa.

Happy flying!

In the sixties their major destinations were Frankfurt and London Gatwick and during the summertime their were used by charter flights to destinations around the Mediterranean Sea. In the seventies the DC-6s of the  Balair often had special assignments for relief flights from the United Nations or the International Red Cross (Cambodia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Biafra, Angola and others ).

Michael

Thanks. Were the flights to Frankfurt and Gatwick regulatly scheduled, or were the charters as well?
