Freeway in MegaScenery South Cal V2.

Featured Replies

With the mountains looking so great in Megascenery Southern California version2, can someone explain why this freeway looks so bad?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144937.jpg

I am not sure but should it be there in the 1st place??Alexwww.fs2crew.comhttp://www.fs2crew.com/betateam.jpg

Can you post coordinates? I have SoCal v2 and have flown most of it and remember nothing looking like that. What terrain mesh are you using?

looks like its missing a flatten file

>Can you post coordinates? I have SoCal v2 and have flown>most of it and remember nothing looking like that. What>terrain mesh are you using? Whatever terrain mesh comes with MegaScenery. The freeway does follow the contour of the terrain. The screen shot is looking east. This is Freeway 2 with the 210 visible on the left and downtown Pasedina visible on the right of the airplane. Freeway 280 south of San Francisco (MegaCity) also has this bunny hop view, but a lot less bad.

Did you have V1?If so, you need to uninstall it.Bobby

>Did you have V1?>If so, you need to uninstall it.Yes, I uninstalled V1 before I installed V2.

OK, I got curious and checked Google Earth It's pretty accurate:Google Earth:glendalegoogle2si.jpgBobby

Hi there,it's possible that the elevation data used as the source for the terrain mesh is older than the highway and its roadcuts or fill-ins. Cheers, Holger

Coming off the 210 to the 2 (Glendale FWY) it's more a downgrade to the 134 and then onto the 5. It is cut into the side's of the foothills as opposed to up and down. Probably a shortcoming of FS9.

Looking at the freeway from this distance, with the zoom used, is bound to create distortion in the image. A normal camera lense would be 50mm, and you would have to get in much close to capture the aircraft. TO get this view, you would use a WideAngle lanse 28mm or smaller, and that causes drastic distortion. TO get the idea, compare this view with the Google Earth normal view. This only includes the one hill & freeway at the extreem left, and so it looks normal to the eye. Thry a shot from the same viewpoint of the Googleearth photo, including only the same area, and you will get a truer viewpoint and image of what it really looks like.
