Scenery crash

Featured Replies

All of a sudden, I am unable to load KORD in Chicago. If I try to start a flight there or if I try to fly there, the sim crashes. I took off at Midway a little bit ago and flew towards O'Hare and could see most of the airport ground textures appeared to be white. Once I got within a few miles of it, the sim crashed again. I removed my afcad for that airport, but the problem remains. Apparently, some scenery file(s) has become corrupted or lost. Can anyone advise what files I might need to restore from the cd to fix this? Thanks,KP

Now this is weird. I switched to springtime and it loaded just fine. Then, I switched back to winter and it loaded just fine. I just put my afcad back in it crashed again. Gonna try again without the afcad and see what happens.KP

Even without the afcad, it crashes in winter, but it loads in spring. Furthermore, if I load it in spring and then switch to winter, it works just fine. I just can't load it in winter from the getgo. Very weird.KP

If these are default, make sure you have the 9.1 update installed as these addressed some seasonal issues.Have you installed any "environment" texture packages. There may be an issue with that one season for that location.

Hi Ron,I do have the 9.1 patch installed. I haven't installed any of the environment packages either. I've been using KORD quite a bit lately with no trouble, so I can't imagine why this has happened all of a sudden. It's just very very weird.KP

Take a look at what add-ons you may have installed recently and remove them. Maybe there is a driver in the Modules folder or something that is creating a problem.Worth checking into.

Thanks Charles. I've been going over it in my mind and just can't think of what has changed. Still can't figure it out.KP

Problem solved!!!It seems that UT USA got corrupted somewhat. When I restored the default FS9 scenery/textures, etc, through the UT control program, it works just fine. So now I just have to reinstall UT USA, not all of FS9!!! :)KP

Good news. :-kewl

Thanks Charles. Now, my only problem is UT kills it, even after unistalling and reinstalling it. I'm gonna head over to the flight1 forums and seek a little more advice on that. For the time being, at least I can use KORD again, even if it is without UT.KP
