Wing condensation at cruise

Featured Replies

Have never been to tropical areas of the world, but is it normal to be in cruise over the Middle East/Asia and wing condensation is coming over the wings? At FL350 TAT -12C over the Indian Ocean.

Hi,

Yes, in some conditions you will get what we call "rainbow contrails" at high altitude. You can disable them in VFXCentral if you don't like it!

It is happening at cruise all the time, and also on departure and arrival at Dubai even though ground temperature is over 30C. I like the idea of this effect but could it be adjusted to make it a little more rare if it is very hot outside?

Are you using the same weather all the time?

This effect is pretty much dependent on weather conditions and should not be happening often...

Active sky 16 for p3d v4. live weather in the middle east out of Dubai and to Asia, pretty consistent conditions, very hot even at higher altitudes. Most of my flights recently have been in or out of Dubai at night. I do not think I should be seeing these condensations on departure/arrival or at cruise if it is so hot outside.
