March 31, 200620 yr Yeah I am using the Asus A8N32-SLI N-Force 4 based mobo BUT my last mobo was P4C800e Intel based and still same CTD on it.
April 1, 200620 yr Well, tried breaking the RAID this evening and loading my drive image, but windows would get to the Windwos XP screen but not the login. I thought maybe it was still trying to load the RAID driver on startup, so I disabled the nvraid driver from repair console and got BSOD. Next I tried a Windows Repair install. The install hung up at about 70% of the loading drivers area. I guess things have changed so much since the initial install that getting off RAID to single drive probably won't go smoothly without a complete reinstall which I don't feel up to right now. Needless to say, I am back to my original RAID configuration, and still get the errors. The nvidia driver issue sounds like a possible problem, but does not explain Monsoon's errors on his old intel system. The others in this thread with the problem appear to be using Nforce4 chipset MBs. I can live with it for now, since it does not crash FS9 too often, just logs the empty error message. Other games, most notably Madden NFL 06 CTD though, but I have not been playing with that lately. April 23, 200620 yr Man I just reformatted my HDD....again. Still get the CTD's. I am thinking it may have something to do with flying online. I run FSInn on a remote computer. I am going to test it flying offline for a bit. Does this happen when you are online or anytime.
April 24, 200620 yr This may not work for you but it sure did for me. Every time I tried to use Select a Flight or the kneeboard the program would lock up and CTD and I would get the Microsoft notification message. Someone had posted this solution and it worked for me. But then I had the same problem all over again. I just checked and the viewmgr.exe file is back in place. I deleted it again and all is working fine once more. Hope this helps! Go to START then to RUN type "regedit" Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then expand "SOFTWARE" Scroll down to "MICROSOFT" and expand that. Then go to "WINDOWS" Expand that. Then go to "Run" and highlight "RUN" by clicking on it. To the right of your screen you will see all the programs that start when your computer boots up. Find viewmgr.exe and delete it. http://www.securemost.com/prs_lib/viewmgr_exe.htmlazyeight
April 25, 200620 yr My 2 cents worth. Issues with FS9 CTD's are incredibly difficult.I was getting CTD's when I selected flight planner as well as sometimes only selecting clickable switches. After multitudes of investigating all the crap I could think of, someone said to me that FS9 and online account software(AOL, Yahhoo etc)share a lot of the same modules and such. And that they can corrupt each other.I re installed my AOL software and bada bing! It eliminated all the CTD's.Just one item of this massive CTD situation.
April 25, 200620 yr Scratch is it crashing to desktop or a complete system crash? If AOL and Yahoo share the same modules could MSN messenger also be causing conflict. I get a sys crash when I select Flt planner or sometimes a different aircraft type. It only seems to happen on the intial use of flt planner or A/C type selection. After I have fired up the sys again (seems to be part of the SIM experience now) it seems to run fine. I get a lot of rapid clicking just before it dies.CheersSteve Cheers Steve Hall
