March 25, 200620 yr Anyone know how many packages there are? Was about to get the Alphasim Enterprise, but after doing s search here, i see it's not actually a full package as such. The quality looks stunning, but i'd like something complete, with working launch etc.Any help appreciated - ta Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
March 25, 200620 yr I'm not sure what you mean by a complete package. The AlphaSim Enterprise is highly detailed, has a working meatball and night textures. The carrier can be found in 10 locations, and includes nav-aids to find them. There are static and moving AI F-14's, S-3's and A-6's that can be pre-set in several different configurations on the deck depending if you are launching, recovering and so on. They are also great if you want to use them for your own AI package. It does not include an arrestor/catapult function, but the there are both freeware and payware packages that can handle that for you.Overall, it is an awesome package. A basic version was uploaded as freeware/demo to the Avsim library in the last several days. Check it out.Tony
March 25, 200620 yr Thanks TonyI've tried the free Enterprise demo. Indeed.... very detailed. Sorry for my poor explanation. I meant complete with the arrestor/catapult function you mention. I would've expected a payware carrieto include this.Dougal Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
March 25, 200620 yr if you need arresting gear and a catapult try 3wire avalable on this site. i have it and it works great. for some reason i couldn't land the excelent freeware f18 thats on this site (can't remember the name right now) but you can land any plane on it( with or with out tail hook) You will have to assign catch zones sence iby default it does not support the alpha sim carrier. This is very easy to do and is explained in the extencive instructions.hope this helps!
March 25, 200620 yr The only payware carries packages I am aware of that do include cables/catapults are the two Abacus packages, Flight Deck III and Vietnam carriers. I think the the guys at Alpha Sim decided to not reinvent the wheel. It apparently takes a lot of work creating a cable/catapult package from scratch, and there are alternatives already available. They are also more into texturing and 3-D modeling, not programming. There are some posts on the Alpha Sim forums with the info you need to cut and paste to get the freeware 3Wire package to work with very little effort. The Abacus Flight Deck III pack is a nice package, and I liked the included Arrestor Cables package back when it was freeware. Flight Deck III has some reasonable flyable planes included as well. That said, for overall immersion in the feeling of being on a flight deck, with all the AI coming and going, nothing compares to the Enterprise package. If you have Flight Deck III, it's Arrestor Cables package can be made to work with Enterprise very easily as well.Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]
March 25, 200620 yr ...... thanks for the help. I think i'll probably go with the Enterprise, and see if i can get the freeware item to work with it. Trouble is, had a brain opp receently and there seems to be even less grey cells (if that was possible!) for that kinda stuff. Suddenly, that sort of tweakin is much harder.Again thanks Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
March 25, 200620 yr DougalIf you don't want to take the plunge and go payware, there are plenty of good carriers available as freeware. None have the catapult and arrestor function built in, no, but those are easily added using 3wire or the one I use, by Rob Barendregt and Doug Dawson (RCBco-11.zip), which is quite awesome. You have to fit that to individual aircraft, but it's really great. I have it fitted to all my Tomcat and F/A-18 aircraft, but you can fit it to anything.I downloaded the Alphasim demo the other day and rather think that offering the base example just as it is there works against them. I accept that the full version has all the goodies, but in its bare state it doesn't compare with the likes of Savern Reweti's HMNZS Waikato, still my favourite freeware carrier. Here's the ID for Savern's work:FS2004 Scenery only-HMNZS Waikato, Aircraft CarrierNZ Vers 1.0. March 25, 200620 yr Hi MarkCan't find RCBco-11.zip in a search of 2 sites. Different name maybe? Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
March 25, 200620 yr Try hunting on Doug Dawson. The library doesn't always come up with zip names, may be the capitalization.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM

March 26, 200620 yr Author Hello Mark,I use, by Rob Barendregt and Doug Dawson (RCBco-11.zip), which is quite awesome. The above quote is an understandment if I ever heard one and yes I know you ment to say, (RCBco-2.0.zip).Mark did you get the new F-14D panel to work yet? I thought I installed it correctly, but FS9 keep crashing when I try to load the aircraft.Must do some more research on the problem, but I am pretty sure it has to do the panel and probably the way I installed it.Think I'll try a few traps before I retire below deck!Ed
