Error Log?

Featured Replies

I know XP creates a log when starting, but if it crashes (using the latest Beta btw) the log doesn't show a possible reason? Am I missing something or does XP not have an actual error log? Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

The log file is created every time you run XP (and it's rewritten every time you start the time). So if have a crash, and haven't restarted XP since, you can analyze the .txt. Personally I can only detect problems with scenery, but more knowledgeable people can deduct possible reasons from it relating to the crash. Just make sure you make a copy of it, because as I've said, it get's completely overwritten every time you restart the sim.

Susu986,

thanks for the reply...I did understand that the log re-writes each time. I was hoping for a log after the dreaded, "X-Plane 11 has stopped working message".

Yes, its there, called log.txt, unless you've re-started X-plane since. It probably contains the error you've experienced, too, I guess it's always does, so you do have your log you are looking for.

When X-Plane crashes unexpectedly it doesn't always log something to that file anyway, but it's still useful to send to LR as it tells them about your computer specs, plugins etc.

If you do get a crash, don't restart X-Plane until you have grabbed the log, because as others have mentioned, it wipes out the previous log file
