I've just purchased and installed the 530 V2 and I'm running P3D V4.1. I've configured Carenado B1900D by running Carenado's RXP530 installer. 

However, the 530 doesnt turn up and the screen remains blank. Can anyone help?

Hi Edward, can you please post the content of your RXP log files? (see RXP User's Manual 'troubleshooting' for paths).

Is the path reported in the log file consistent with your installation?

Can you please cross check your user account 'write' access rights to the "D:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Simobjects\" folder and it subfolders?

The path is correct and my user account has full read / write access rights to that folders. 

I'm running P3D V4.1. In fact, not just Carenado aircrafts have this problem. Other aircrafts have similar problems, such as A2A, etc.

This issue is peculiar and we've been looking at a possible failure on our code today, but it might be something on your system which causes this. Let us try to cross check with your help:

First, the assistant always work on a copy of your panel.cfg file, saved in your 'temp' folder. The location is:

"C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Temp"

The file will always start with 'rxp' followed by random letters. 

1) the first error message tells the assistant receives an error when asking windows to copy your panel.cfg to a backup file in your aircraft panel folder.

2) the second error message tells the assistant it receives an error when asking windows to copy the temp copy to your aircraft panel folder.

The only reason both occur is the assistant doesn't have the rights to write to "D:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\\Simobjects\Airplanes\Carenado B1900D\panel\"

Can you please cross check you have a file in your temp folder starting with 'rxp' created at the date/time when you are actually pressing the 'Apply' button on the assistant panel?

Besides, do you run your simulator as admin? What OS are you running on?

As you indicated, there are no. of temp files in the Temp folder. 

I recalled that when I first ran the installation file, the program hang for a very long time and I've to terminate the process at Task Manager. I re-ran the installation and it reported completion halfway towards the process bar. Not sure whether this caused the problem or not.

Hi Edward, 

Please open you temp folder in a window, show 'detailed' view, sort by date (most recent on top). Then open the assistant, select your options and press 'Accept'. Do you see a new file starting with 'rxp' appearing in the file explorer window? If not you may select the file explorer window and press F5 to refresh.

Thank you. It looks like the temp file (the copy of your panel.cfg file the assistant is working on) is created. You may open this temp file in notepad for example and check it is the edited copy, that is your original panel + the assistant modifications.

Remains the issue you are reporting, which is solely related to copying this temp file back to your aircraft panel folder.

Just got back from a long business trip. 

Have tried your suggestion but still no joy. 

My computer is running Win 10 Home 64 bit with 32G RAM. The installer just hang and when I tried to terminate the process by Win Task Manager. The installer is running on 32-bit. Would that be an issue?

There is a semi-colon before the gauge name. Unless the file is named like this in your gauge folder, it is an error. Most likely the author wanted to 'disable' this gauge in the .cfg file and the correct way to do so is:

I'm not sure visible applies to [VCockpit] sections. Nevertheless, the 'rxpGNS' gauge here is the legacy one and it is not good to mix legacy and GNS V2 on the same panel.

Didn't the assistant pick up this VCockpit #6 gauge entry?

 

So what this tells is:

1) There are a few errors in the original panel.cfg itself. None are related to the assistant but are worth fixing.

2) The assistant is properly editing the panel.cfg file with the GNS V2 gauges.

3) Either the assistant missed changing the VC06 entry, or you've forgotten to also change this one. Just let us know.

But the root cause is most likely:

Just don't! There is no need to run anything as 'administrator' on your computer, unless you are administering things and require a software to administer things on your behalf.

Our solution tries to make sure it prompts you for granting the access when needed, that is when it needs to write the panel.cfg or RXP ini file. Any add-on requiring you to run as admin must be carefully re-examined because there is no need too. UAC is there to protect your system, and software like FS don't require bypassing UAC. You might manually grant access to your use account to some FS subfolders, like scenery and aircraft, in order to help add-ons with a need to write there, but that is all.

More importantly, when you run a software as 'admin' you are simply bypassing the Windows mechanisms which are there to make software running on your computer running fine with UAC. That is all of a sudden, an expected path to a registry key changes without the software knowing about, an expected access right to a folder changes as well, and the software (FS, add-ons, etc...) fail.

Can you please try running the sim not as admin and see how it goes?
