Win 10 Reinstallation and P3D v4.1 and 3.4

Recommended Posts

So ended up having a major issue after constantly uninstalling one of the Windows cumulative updates which i thought i had turned off.   Was forced to reinstall windows (i.e. windows wouldn't even come up) so didn't get a chance to uninstall items etc.  Have since reinstalled Win, P3D, Orbx, etc.

My question is that things like payware Aircraft, active sky and all those things that were installed on a separate drive (my P3D drive) are still there and work correctly but do not show up in the Add Remove Programs.   Is there any reason this would cause issues?

It depends...clearly the uninstallers won't work, so if a future update depends on an uninstaller to remove all the old program, associated registry settings etc, that may not go as planned.  Some scenery, for example, may put elevation corrections into ...scenery/world/scenery and if you switch to something else (e.g. ORBX San Diego to LatinVFR San Diego), you could get a bunch of anomalies from having the old elevation file still there.  It's hit or miss, really.

Personally, if I have to reload the OS, then I reluctantly accept that I will have to rebuild the whole shooting match.  That's a week of 12-hour days to get FSX and P3D plus several hundred add-ons installed, even with detailed notes from the previous build.

Regards

Thanks Bob.  Luckily I hadn't fully migrated everything from 3.4 to 4.1 yet so the reinstallation is long but not that long.
