Birds...

Featured Replies

I flew a night flight a moment ago, and For some strange reason, when I got to a certain altitude, was greeted with what I at first thought was ugly white clouds, but on closer inspection, seemed to be rather large white geese. I'm guessing this is an effect file or something I've downloaded and added. I'd really like to get rid of it, but don;t know what it is or where it is. ANyone got any idea?

They weren't laying golden eggs were they??

Langoliers? (that's my stock answer when I don't have a clue what it is)-John

That looks somewhat freaky. I must look away.

There are AI geese and swans available at Misty Moorings site in the AI Traffic files (free enhancement site for Misty Fjords payware pkg). They actually fly along. Check for Traffic_MF_Geese.bgl in FS2004's SceneryWorldScenery folder. If the birds are static, then they are probably part of another scenery package.

Thanks for that. Yes they are static, but I'll have a look for the misty moorings file, anyway, just in case.Again, many thanks

I think I'll wait until tomorrow. then I'll post some shots of my sim with the flying elephants. ;)

Well, this gets stranger and stranger. At first I thought they were birds, but on closer inspection they seem to be badly drawn clouds. Then I noticed this strange growth coming out of the moutainside. To me it looks like some bizarre corruption of the the Mesh, but why the clouds around it?http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v56/Phil...th/fsscr007.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v56/Phil...th/fsscr008.jpgI've been messing with EZ-scenery, but have turned off the area here I was working on, and still it's there. Also, I turned the weather off and it's still there. Anyone got any idea what this is. I really don;t feel like a reinstall, I've only just done that.If no one knows what it is, anyone know how I can reset the landscape so to speak, without a reinstall.Like I said, I'm using EZ-scenery, plus ultimate terrain, GE, flight environment and FSGlobal SE, if that helps any.Oh, one last thing, other than messing around with a scenery addon for the area in EZ scenery, the only other thing I've changed is using the 9.1 no cd. PRior to the no cd, I flew over the area and didn;t notice any of this.

Are your cloud settings 100 pct. 3-d, or do you have the slider less than 100 pct? I've seen "imposter" clouds do this when the slider's less than 100 pct. The fps difference was so slight for me I've always kept the slider maxed at 100 pct, even with a P3-800 and I just keep my draw distance reduced to compensate.Next question--is that Salzburg and do you have Holger's mesh installed for the Alps? There was a known issue with Salzburg that Holger later fixed which caused the "spike" you see.-John

Thanks chaps, I had an Austrian mesh installed. Took it off and the spike went. I'm still experimenting with the clouds. THey are either something to do with my own addon scenery for the are, or a soaring file - austria maybe. Can someone tell me, they aren't visual ids for thermals, are they? It would explain a lot.

Thanks for that - they look a lot better than the ones I've got :).Are tehre any ai birds available. I can see that static birds would look good on the ground or on buildings, but in the air they might be a bit of an immersion killer for me if they didn't move.
