Problem With Approach

Recommended Posts

I've tried this flight 3 times and it's gone wrong every time.

KPVD - KJFK

Route is:

KPVD SEY ROBAR2 KJFK

The ROBAR2 STAR ends at the KJFK VOR. When I get close to the KJFK VOR the program gives me vectors that take me out over the water. It then tells me to turn to 285 to intercept the ILS for runway 31R at KJFK, but the vectors will never intercept the ILS. It's WAY off.

Thanks.

When you start getting vectors, you can press the APPR button to the right of the map and it will display a yellow course that you are being vectored to follow.  It often makes sense once you use that.

That isn't the case here. I was told to turn to 285 to intercept the ILS and to contact tower when on final. The 285 heading from where I was would never intercept the ILS.

If I get time tomorrow I'll make a video of the problem.

Jim,

I suspect a problem with the timing of the start of vectors.  They should start somewhere back around ROBER.

I'll fly it tomorrow and see if I can fix it.  Having the JFK VOR as the last waypoint in the STAR likely is causing this issue with the program.

Thanks and I'll report back.

That's what I was thinking too. A strange sort of approach but that's the way it is on the real STAR. They make you fly to the VOR and then get vectored back for the approach.

Thanks for all the help.

I was able to find a couple of bugs that should start the vectors earlier and give a nice intercept to Final without going all the way to the JFK VOR.  The only time you would do that would be if you had lost COM and had to fly the STAR and approach manually.

Thanks for the report.  The fix will be in the next update.

Dave
