Sometimes  atc clears me to take off no initial fl no heading no sid  no  nothing and hits the sack. I just  have to hit enable and disable a few times to get him/them out of bed,.  What am I missing ? thanks

This sometimes happens in real life too. If you let the tower know you are "Clear of the zone to the (East North West South), that will sometimes wake them up. Works in Vox ATC too.
