Legendary 727.

I agree. I'm a 727 nut, I love the plane, and the Captain Sim 727 was the first jetliner add-on I bought for FS2004 over two years ago. The visuals are fantastic, and I think the 2D panel is just about a work of art; few shops do panels better than Captain Sim.Fact is, the CS 727 is a darn good product, and I'm not going to trash it. It gave me a lot of enjoyable hours in FS. But if you do like the CS 727, you will LOVE the Dreamfleet version. The flight model is greatly improved and while the panels aren't quite as photo-real, they are a lot more usable IMO (i.e., you're not trying to tweak the flight engineer panel looking over the pilot's shoulder, you're actually looking at the panel from in front of it and everything is quite readable). I even think the DF sound is better; the "shrieking" sound of the JT8Ds on the CS 727 actually caused problems with my onboard sound, believe it or not. The Dreamfleet engines have more of a roar sound to them that sounds like the JT8Ds I've heard in real life. And probably because it's made expressly for FS2004, the DF 727's flight model is vastly improved over the Captain Sim model. It's an amazingly fun plane to hand-fly and has received a lot of positive comments from real 727 crewmen.I think the CS 727 tends to catch some of the blowback from Captain Sim's past issues with customer support, and with some issues folks have had with the 707. The 727 itself is a great add-on, but CS tends to take some lumps, deserved or not. I'm not getting into that. :) I don't think the CS 727 is bad, but I do think the DF 727 is a lot better...only natural, considering that it was longer in development, was built expressly for FS2004, and is newer.Lewis "Moose" GregoryRichmond, Virginia

To all the Dreamfleet banner wavers. Maybe you missed the part of my post where I stated "the Dreamfleet is more accurate". It should be, it is a lot newer. Like I said I have both 727's and fly both of them. I believe we still live in a democracy and can choose the aircraft we fly on our flight sims. My beef is not with Dreamfleet, they make exellent products, most of which I own. I just think the Cs727 does not deserve a lot of the critisisms thrown at it. The flight dynamics may not be accurate at slow speeds (then again Ive never flown a real 727),but I land the plane just fine consistently. The Dreamfleet727 has it's own challenges, especially failures. I just think if someone buys one product that is very good and has a question or comment about it. They shouldn't be answered "that product is no good mine is the best". Instead maybe we should discuss the subject. Read above,it says Legendary 727.

Fair enough.

I've re-read this thread twice and can only find polite comments about the fact the CS727 was good for its day and that users of both think that today, the DF727 is better. Not once has anybody said "that product is no good mine is the best" and nobody has listed all the things the CS727 doesn't do.You're quite correct in that you're entitled to state that your opinion. But surely when a post like the one that started this thread appears with a user stating how much they enjoyed getting something out the hanger, users of both products are also quite entitled to offer the original poster their thoughts on the 2. Especially as these comments were made so tactfully and politely.I agree that CS does seem to take a bit of bashing in the forums, (but not in this thread) and for some reason the DF727 only ever seems to cause nice threads to appear. Maybe there's a reason for this?As for the thread going OT; where similar products exist, this will always happen i.e. PMDG/Ariane 737.Dreamfleet Project ManagerGreatest Airliners - DC-8Greatest Airliners - 727 Whisperjethttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...BANNER_PAUL.jpg

I don't see anyone bashing CS either. How can a discussion about 727's not mention DF, which is not only the best 727 out there by a long margin, as everyone seems to agree, but which is arguably one of the better addons period. You can't discuss something in isolation--you learn a lot (good and bad) about something by comparing it to other things that are similar. It's human nature and a perfectly sensible exercise. billg

PaulI want to buy the DF 727 Version 2 on CD from Flight1 but it is unclear what Version they are offering. Can you tell me ?ThanksFrank

Paul, The CD is the one with ALL the latest updates including the Super 27 and winglet models. It is complete with a ton of repaints, printed manual and is the most current.BestClayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. Dopke (Clay)Major, USAF (retired)"Drac"
