April 4, 200620 yr WOW.. I dusted off my old 727 that I had in my old computer which never installed on my current system and installed it here. Thanks to learning to fly the PMDG 747 my new interest in heavies.I also figured I had the Phoenix simulations' A320 A340 and I installed that too. (Dang.. I forgot I even bought this). Now coming back to the 727. I like this aircraft for hand flying and for old fashioned IFR flying. It has an unbelievable engine sound. and an awesome flight model/ handling. Its difficult to land it if you are not alligned properly. Last minute adjustments are not that easy. Don't know if its real or not..but its lot of fun flying this sucker.I am glad I went back and pulled this out of the attic.:)Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
April 4, 200620 yr dreamfleets 727 is my favorite, but the captain sim model gave me hours of enjoyment in fs2002. too bad it wasnt really updated for fs9
April 4, 200620 yr I hate the way someone always brings up the dreamfleet 727 everytime anyone asks or comments on the Captain Sim Legendary 727. I have both of them and yes the Dreamfleet is more accurate but Captain Sims 727 is also very nice,is easy on frames, has a ton of repaints and works perfectly in FS2004 without any updating. Yes an update would be nice but not completely necessary. Also with the Cap Sim you don't have to always load the default cessna in Seattle and then switch planes/departure location everytime you wan't to fly it which is something that keeps me from flying the Dremfleet as often as I would like to when time is short and I have to get her in the air and back on the ground in a hurry.Capt Sims can be loaded like any of the default planes. I don't understand all the banner waving for one developer or another. It's as if someone asked how to change tailight on a Ford, someone would answer Chevy makes better tailights. You can see this does nothing to answer the person's question. As for Manny, I am glad you are enjoying your 727 as I do.
April 4, 200620 yr By the way, Big Al, I re-read your post after I posted on the Legendary 727 and I realized you were not actually trashing the Capt Sim 727. There are other posts here (or elswhere) on this which have given me this defensive attitude because people would trash an aircraft I really like.So I kind of reacted thinking about those posts. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
April 4, 200620 yr Thanks for the apology. I didnt mean to come across a certain way at all. I really enjoyed the CS 727. It is a great aircraft, but I was disappointed that the difficulty landing and other things werent fixed. The model is IMO the best out there, the VC is a little behind but for its day it still is great. The flight dynamics are where it is still in fs2002 days, but no big deal. Anyway, take care

The flight dynamics are where it is still in fs2002>days, but no big dealHmmmmmm.....I like the difficulty of landing this plane.. Its more challenging.. in a nice way. (I hope..they don't fix it..if it is a flaw at all) and yes...the flight dynamics is very exciting. It gets away from you real fastif you are not careful with your speed and power... Don't know if thats how its in real life.. But I like this aircraft just for that reason.. It keeps me on my toes when I am trying to land. I have gotten to land most of my heavies pretty good. I can even dead stick most of those heavies.. so I like this one.As far as the VC is concerned.. Yup..its dated. After getting used to the F1 ATR's unbelievable VC and the PMDG's 747,... yeah..this one is dated. I have to go to the 2D often to change stuff... But I can't get enough of the engine sound and the flight dynamics... Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
April 4, 200620 yr I agree the CS727 is a handful to land (if you think the 727 is hard to land try landing the CS F104), the Dreamfleet is way easier.
April 4, 200620 yr By the way, there is an update for the DF 727 and it is free for those who own the 727 version 1.
April 4, 200620 yr Commercial Member It's actually a completely new release as there were too many changes to just issue an update, and yes, despite adding additional aircraft models (100 & 200 Super27's as well as normal 200 with winglets), version 2 is free to existing users.Oh, and it flies like a real 727 is supposed too, not how some people seem to think a 727 should fly..........sorry, had to add that bit ;-) Cheers Paul Golding
April 4, 200620 yr Is it the Captain sim 'Legendary 727' and not the Dreamfleet 'Greatest airliners' 727?
April 4, 200620 yr >Is it the Captain sim 'Legendary 727' and not the Dreamfleet>'Greatest airliners' 727?I was talking about the Captain sim 727.I don't own the dreamfleet 727. Now I am tempted to get the dreamfleet 727 as well.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
April 4, 200620 yr I've had many hours of enjoyment from the CS 727. In fact, I think it was my first payware aircraft and thus got me "hooked." I don't mean this in a negative way, but it has been surpassed by quite a margin in all areas by the DF 727, which is now my favorite by far. If you're enjoying the CS 727, give the DF one a try--you'll be amazed. billg
April 4, 200620 yr Dear Manny, and others,Having throughly tested both of these items, the CS and the DF 727, I'll just have to say: "When the CS came out, many of us were very excited. For its time, it was great, although many of us, including real 727 pilots felt it did not fly like the real thing and the diving approaches were NOT the way it landed. However, again, for its time, it was really special considering all the eye candy and functionality. When we knew we wouldn't get a real update from CS, one which addressed the 'diving approaches problem', a few of us took it upon our own to find a simple fix for the problem -- it still wasn't right, but it was as good as we could get it."Enter 2005Along came the DF and it surpassed even my wildest imagination of what a 727 for FS should be. In the land of 727's for Flight Simulation, it really has NO competition, not because I was involved with the beta, but because it is as right as can be within the perameters of FS's limitations. Perhaps when FSX comes out, someone will built a better one, on a new engine from Microsoft, however until they do, (and in all honesty, it will have to be a hum dinger), then the DF 727 remains the mark to shoot for. Time marches on, and everything in its own time gets better. If you have the CS 727 and like it . . . cool. If you want the closest thing to the real aircraft in FS, then there is the DF 727 -- and, if you want freeware, then there are a ton (some very good, some not so good) 727's which fill the freeware bill. It's all what you want out of an aircraft for FS -- Myself, well . . . hehe, you already know MY choice!BestClayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. April 4, 200620 yr Agree with billg. DF 727 is an excellent challenge - one that has me hooked for sure. I really enjoy hand flying the 727-100, orginal cockpit config.erv KSDF High end with 5090, VR, 2020 & 2024.

Yeah I am sure Dreamfleet, whatever they do it would be good. I buy their stuff all the time without even giving a second thought.
