P3D v4 Lighting bug? (with pic)

Featured Replies

I've seen this issue on a few of my addons now.  Has anyone else seen this?  Some parts of the aircraft are lit and some are in shadow?  Also there are weird ellipses in spots of shadow and light.  I have acft shadows on high but HDR off.

I had the issue you show in the red circle. Pretty sure it was a shadow quality issue that I solved by increasing the opaque (or translucent?) shadow resolution in the cfg.

Is that available in the sliders within the sim or a custom cfg edit?

No, only in the cfg. I have "opaque_shadow_texture_size set to 4096.  It improves things a lot but not completely. As a bonus though 4096 really improves your VC shadow edges.

I re-tested translucent shadow texture size values and they made no difference.

Maybe someone else knows a setting that also affects shadow transition display?

Don't dismiss the idea of graphic card drivers displaying textures incorrectly, it's slightly possible (try different version, maybe). Not probable but possible.

You did say that some of your planes displayed that effect, could be textures used in those planes.
