November 15, 20178 yr I'm planning a new computer early next year for P3DV4. I do have several questions about VR ready, 4K video, etc. However my question in this forum has to do with HDD configuration. Most game ready computers come with a SSD with an additional old style HDD. I would imagine the operating system (Windows 10) would be on the SSD. Would it be a good investment to add an additional SSD for P3Dv4? What sizes for each SSD would be optimal? Appreciate any advice or feedback. Thanks, Ken
November 15, 20178 yr While I can't quantify a performance gain in p3dv4 when it runs from a ssd like mine does, it surely can't hurt. My p3dv4 resides on a dedicated 240g ssd drive, I think that's enough room for just about any amount of add ons...
November 23, 20178 yr Yeah, put all your flightsims folders onto an SSD. For one thing it speeds up loading a new location flight in FSX tremendously! Having simulations on SSD helps a lot! Most SSD's are small enough to fit 2 into each 3.5 inch HDD slot using $5 double brackets. But then the SATA cables might require straight plug tips instead of right angle tips (if you are using SATA drives). 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
