REX TEXTURE direct 4 and SOFT CLOUDS and other Scenery Enhancements

Featured Replies

I have just upgraded REX4 to REX4 Texture Direct (enhanced edition) when I realised I was unsure how this is affected by other scenery enhancement programs  I run the REX4 with Active Sky Next and my scenery for Scotland is VFR Photographic Scenery for Scotland and ORBX scenery for England. I am aware of the layer protocols  i.e.  something like base and mesh scenery which can be overlaid with eg photographic data.  However  I am confused with the textures generated by REX4 how do they work  within  Orbx etc? are they invalid because ORBX overwrites any changes?   and  also for example, specific eg Aerosoft airport scenery, are the REX4 textures ignored for Runways etc because the Aerosoft has programmed runways including I presume textures which must overwrite the REX options (or do they?)

This  leads me to ask a more basic question I have always presumed you only need to run REX4 when you you want to change textures The themes or modifications you have selected and installed will stay in active in each FSX start up until you run REX4 to change them is this correct?

I would appreciate any advice on this

Once you install a texture or texture theme, it will remain until you modify or add a different theme. REXTD does not affect ORBX textures. If you chose Active Sky next as your weather engine in REXTD the REX textures will be used if you chose to use them.

Thanks Vineguy, If I understand you correctly I will not see the REXTD enhancements if I fly over England. I will see textures and scenery as per ORBX? and I suppose that is the same for photographic scenery I have for Scotland? Only if I fly over eg France for which I have no purchased scenery will I see the benefits of REXTD?

REXTD does not replace any ground textures with the exception if you chose to change the runways, taxiways etc. at default airports. It will not change those textures in any add on airports. You may choose which textures you want to change in the texture install configuration tab of REXTD (the wrench icon)
