April 20, 200620 yr Does anyone have this aircraft, besides myself, that is?I've only had this aircraft for a couple of days; it's a nice plane; but I'm having problems with the Alt Hold switch - in that it does not 'Hold' the Altitude, the aircraft just keeps on climbing?I am usung the JF Forum, but they don't seem to keen to correct the fault. The problem seems to me to be fairly simple to correct, if I knew how :) What I've done so far is to copy the Aircraft.cfg file from the Default Baron 58.....! This cured the Alt Hold problem, but gave me 2/3 more - such as no livery and the engines cut out when I close the throttle. The Aircraft.cfg transplant is not the answer itself - the answer is in that file somewhere. Can anyone help, please?Ken,Somerset, England
April 20, 200620 yr Hi Ken,Look for a copy of Winmerge on the net. It is a freeware file compare utility. Then open the two aircraft.cfg files you mentioned and look for differences that look like they will help. I don't know technically what to look for off the top of my head, but I'm assuming there are some lines in there regarding the autopilot.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-) Tom Perry
April 21, 200620 yr I have this aircraft and no such problems either. Its not the greatest payware... Its like the some of the old default aircraft that comes with FSim 2000. (not even as good as the recent DC3 type default aircraft)..but other than that. No problem really. Its too simple a sim aircraft to have any issues? Its got a 2D photo panael for the aircraft thats about it. Thats the addon.... how can anyone screw that up?:)Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
April 21, 200620 yr Same here, no issues and I've flown it extensively. Including 1 low altitude flight from Shoreham to Le Havre. And when I say low I mean low (300 feet)
April 21, 200620 yr Thank you for your replies, gentlemen,I downloaded the Winmerge program, Thomas, but have not yet used it.I've used Flight Simulators from Flight Unlimited 1, then FS95 up to Fs9, (and I'm looking forward to FSX) but I have never come across an airplane that behaves like this Piper Seneca. I have cleared it from my HD, then did a complete re-install (so I'm back to the original Aircraft.cfg) - but still I am unable to use the ALT Hold feature. According to the Manual you have to ensure the aircraft is settled in level flight, then switch on Alt Hold (Roll/AP and Hdg already engaged); this is exactly what I do - but as soon as I switch on Alt Hold the aircraft starts climbing. Out of 15 shortish flights today I was successful only once. I'll try again tomorrow; but I cannot think of anything new to try. So if that fails, it's in the bin :)Ken
April 22, 200620 yr Made 7 flights this morning - Circuits from Bristol EGGD - in 3 of them I managed to engage the Alt Hold switch; still don't know how I did it - I just 'stabbed' at the Alt switch as the aircraft slowly passed from Climb to Descend! It's a little like a game of darts...only in this game you throw the Board at the Darts :) It will be a reasonable ac when JF fix that switch. But there are much better Freeware aircraft in the Avsim Library. That's all folks,Ken
