Graphics glitch

Featured Replies

I've been struggling with an odd glitch in P3D manifest in several of my favorite aircraft (Majestic Q400, PMDG NGX, A2A Comanche, e.g.) that has me stumped. Something is causing a periodic flashing of certain warning lights and/or external graphics (such as a GPU), and the flashing happens about once every second....weird. I've never seen this before and am racking my brain trying to determine what's caused it. I'm running with the sim (P3Dv4) the following add-ons: AS (networked), AivlaSoft EFB, Chaseplane, TIR.

Here's a rough video of the issue in the NGX: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tld4a3aszr2h1s2/P3D glitch.avi?dl=0

I can't track this oddity down and need your collective experience and wisdom.

Wayne - I just googled flashing textures fsx and got a lot of suggestions depending on how and where they show up. I assume you've tried a new driver and lowering your settings. Does a rebuild of the shaders cause it to go away for a while?

Thanks, Vic. Flushed the shader cache but the issue remains. It flashes as if on a clock somewhere...about once per second. Also tried lower settings but no joy....very strange. I'll keep looking.

just for kicks, load a simple default a/c like the J3 Cub. Then load one of the a/c you mentioned. Perhaps there's a variable not being cleared. I'd also check running processes to see if there's anything unusual.

Can you tell - is it the same image that flashes or a different image each time?

BTW, Happy New Year to you and yours!

Tried that, Vic, thanks. Checked processes also...really vexing and mysterious issue. And it's the same image, aircraft specific, that flashes regularly.

I'll find the offending entry, and meanwhile, all the best in 2018 for you and yours, as well.

I'm bumping this up in the hope that someone can help me track down this issue; note the repeating image of the ground cart near the nose of the aircraft in this video capture:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/85m0osvz1kdlraf/P3D issue.avi?dl=0

This problem manifests itself differently in different aircraft; the video shows the PMDG NGX with a phantom ground cart. My A2A Comanche shows this as a repeating flashing panel indicator (the FM Z light at the top left of the main panel), and my FSL A320X has a stuck AP1 light on the FCU even when that autopilot is disengaged. Weird.

I've tried several approaches, including eliminating addons, flushing the shader cache, changing the video driver, and unplugging controllers but have been unsuccessful in finding the problem. I'd be grateful simply to be pointed in another direction, before I resort to a complete re-install of P3D (ugh). Thanks.
