My understanding was that if I used Navigraph and installed current AIRAC cycles I would have available (all) current approaches; I was wandering around Maryland earlier and noticed that at KESN There is only the ILS and the NDB (w/GPS overlay). There should be several RNAV approaches, as well?

I installed AIRAC cycle 1713 to my my Milviz C-310R and DHC-2 GNS530/430 units prior. P3D v 4.1 has 1713 installed as well.

Cant update the default gns database with navigraph. You have to go through fsaerodata :)

The Flight1 GTN is even harder to update, or rather more expensive because you would need to buy the cycle from garmin.

This does not make sense to me... I have AIRAC 1713 installed (via the FSAerodata tool) for P3D as well as my add on aircraft that require it. The approaches available at KESN in the simulator (haven't checked elsewhere yet) do not reflect that which is currently available.

FSAerodata uses Navigraph provided data...

I am running FSX with a Reality GNS 430 installed in one Milviz C310R, and a Reality XP GTN 750 in another and I have all of the published approaches into KESN.  It is my home airport.  

I believe AVN_WW_DB_1513 the database I am using.  With the Reality XP GTN I have:
ILS04
RNAV 04 gps LPV
RNAV 22 gps LPV
RNAV 15 LNAV+V
RNAV 33 LNAV+V
And since the RXP Garmin GTN is based on a more recent Garmin GTN Trainer it includes a new feature that gives GPS guidance for visual approaches.  So into KESN the RXP GTN also provides Visual approaches to each of the (4) runways.

I just loaded up Caranedo's A-36 which is a default aircraft with a GNS 430 and same result... only two approaches.

I flew a Citation Encore out of KESN back in 2012-2013. Love that part of the country...

from the fsaerodata faq:.

To enable this feature on any aircraft GPS, the user has to edit the aircraft panel configuration file, replacing the gps type from default version 'fs9gps.cab' to 'p3dgps.cab'.

 

maybe that's a step you missed? i guess if the aircraft doesn't point to the newer gauge it won't read the approaches?

not sure if that is the issue but something to try maybe. good luck!!

That edit to the aircraft panel.cfg file is to enable the use of SID/STAR procedures; I doesn't appear to have anything to do with GPS approaches.

OK. I am not yet a P3D user and so I am lost on what GPS you are using.

what do you mean? by switching it you got the updated SID/STAR data but not the associated approaches that match those STARS?? your navdata layers may possibly be installed incorrectly then.. not really sure.. good luck!
