This is pretty ugly ..

Does anyone else have this horrible change in landclass (screenshot at URL below)? The co-ordinates are on the screenshot - in Iran, near intersection 3656e..I don't have any scenery for Iran (is there any, apart from mesh?) so I assume it is the default. Both sides are crisp and sharp and things don't resolve if you hang around the area, so I don't think it's a PC problem..http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v68/martinlest/Iran_LC.jpgThanks,Martin

Havent flown much around Iran, but I get something similar in my Megasceneries where the photographic meets the default textures. It is about the only thing I don't like about them. I wish they would blend it in better with some intermediate textures.

Aaaaaaah!! I can't imagine what is causing this then. I'll go back there and see if it is still the same - sometimes these glitches cure themselves. Not very hopeful though. Assuning it's the same, I will scratch my head a bit and see what I can come up with. I am 99% sure I don't have any add-ons for that area though. Maybe a default file got deleted somewhere ???Thanks for testing this out for me Tom,Martin

Looks to me like a landclass file gone awry. If someone created landclass for an area and didn't compile it with the right lat/lon, this type of problem could happen. Do a search of your Flight Simulator 9 folder and all subfolders for this filename: "scenery.dat"When the search is complete, sort the list in date order. The scenery.dat file is built/rebuilt whenever new scenery is added to the sim. The more recent the date, the more recently the scenery was added. The scenery.dat file will point to the folders where new (and old) scenery is active. This might point you to an obscure landclass bgl that could be causing the issue.-John

Thanks for the replies, but I don't get the same effect now I fly to the same area, the dead straight line has gone, even though I haven't touched the setup at all in the meantime. This sort of things happens so often, that I am beginning to believe the folklore that PCs really do have a mind of their own!I realise now that I have installed upgrades to global desert and forest landclass from the AVSIM library, so that is what I am seeing on the right side of my screenshot I imagine. I flew over Iran, real world, just a few weeks back. It is one of the most amazing countries to fly over, landscape wise, that I know - makes me long to go for a visit! I certainly don't know whether this particular area is just sand, as in the default, or more scrub, as in my 'upgrade' however, but so long as I don't get a border between the two, as before, I am not too worried. If it all suddenly changes to rainforest (in FS I mean - little chance of that in the real world, climate change or no), I'll certainly post back!Martin

Go and have a look on Google Earth you'll see that this part of Iran, halfway between Mashrad and Teheran, has both sandy and greenish patches:-) ! Not so clear cut as in your pic though ;) ! What I see there is large sandy and rocky patches with a little green from time to time (doing a world tour and being around there). So in your case this is not a case where a texture missed a beat and was not loaded but something extra loaded.I agree that Iran and Turkey are pretty amazing to fly over in real life and that the sim default LC are not up to it but a good mesh brings a lot below 20K feet.

What a good idea - I didn't think of Google Earth - I know of it, but have never downloaded it (I shall go now and have a look)! I have the NASA World Wind software, but hardly ever use it, it taskes so long to load decent images, even with a 2GB ASDL connection; don't know if Google Earth is any better.....I have FSGenesis mesh installed for this area but as you say, it doesn't do too much here at higher altitudes. The mountian ranges look pretty good - though not a patch on the real-world ones (which are SO astounding, I nearly missed the BA drinks trolley the other week, so hard was my nose pressed up against the cabin window!).Martin

> don't know if Google Earth is any>better..... Go and get it this is quite an experience ! It's smooth on my 5 Mb connexion here in Tel Aviv but few months back I had only 1.5 mb in Paris and it was pretty much OK too. It sometimes slows down a bit during the weekend when it's prime time in the US.

Amazing! MUCH better than the NASA software. I zoomed right up to my bedroom window - better keep my curtains shut in future; never know who might be watching!!!Martin
