Short Turn Panel State

Recommended Posts

Guest

I tried the short turn panel state for the first time but couldn’t start the APU. I couldn’t see anything obvious on the overhead panel that wasn’t as it should be.  Ground power ext 1 and 2 were connected and on. Packs were off. Nothing happens when I click the APU start.

What basic step am I missing? It works fine from cold and dark.

Thanks.

Could you resave the panel state and see if that helps? Panel states do get corrupted sometimes.

Hi,

Sorry if the question sounds silly but how long do you wait once you have turn the switch to start? And how long do you hold to Start but releasing it to on?

The APU sequence takes some time to start with first the opening of the inlet flap and nothing moves on the lower EICAS STAT page during that period.

Also, though I'm not sure it is implemented in the PMDG's, but I read that it was recommended to hold the switch to Start and not let it immediately go back to on to ensure the start command was caught by the system.

James,

Generally, fleet guidance is to hold the START switch in the START position for 3 seconds before letting it go.

This will be sure to get the electrical signals to all of the proper receivers.

It does take a bit of time to get the APU spooled up, you can watch this process on the STAT page on the lower EICAS.  It will start after the APU inlet door is fully open.

Thanks Robert, I haven’t had a chance to get back on the sim for a while but will give that ago.  Appreciate the advice.

Sounds like you are in long turn state. Short turn already has the APU running.

I’m def loading the short turn panel state so weird.  Will check again when I next can get on the sim, thanks.
