Beware of pirate webshops

Featured Replies

I posted the following news item & article to my site FSnordic.net, and also notified several other simulation sites, so that users can be warned in case this kind of hoax happens again. Here are the details also for users of this forum:"Piracy is one of the main concerns of software developers in these days. This does not unfortunately exclude the flight simulation development projects which are also widely piratized. One of such piracy scams has come to the attention of FSnordic.net: We were informed of a new webshop that advertised selling simulator add-ons "2x cheaper than SimMarket". This sounded already so intriguing that it needed a closer look. Quickly it became evident that the shop is trying to sell pirated software from several different publishers, and was trying to poach users to buy products from them with huge -20% to -60% discounts off the "standard" prices. The publishers of the products sold at the shop confirmed to us the piracy status, so we contacted the shop owners and their webhost to get the site closed. This happened rather fast and at least for now, there is one pirate hoax site less.FSnordic.net's editor-in-chief Sami Puro has written a small article of this incident that also describes some ways to recognize other similar attempts. Please visit http://www.fsnordic.net/ to read the article."So please remember to stay alert and keep the common sense with you when making online purchases!--Sami Purohttp://www.fsnordic.net/
