Contrails

Well up here near CYWG it is -22C or -8F.  The contrails from a 747 going from KORD to PANC stretched all the way from as far as I could see in the south east to all the way I could see in the north west.  Looks like they hadn't moved at all.  Neat to see.

One day, during the height of the Vietnam War, the sky over my home then in Napa, Ca were full of contrails.  I later learned that a false alarm caused jets to scramble, I'd say there were 20 contrails crisscrossing the sky at once, but you could not make out the aircraft at the head of the contrails.

Used to live in Southern Turkey,

Each day there was a contrail starting from near the horizon to the south west and a similar one from the north west...they grew and eventually crossed in the middle.  Checking the timetables it seemed to be egypt to athens and vice versa....quite a site though.  Humid air and clear skies at that time of year It seems the flight in both directions left the same time.
