Hi all, searched for any fix to exterior lighting problem for the iFDG Airbus A320. Found one article that shows a light section to replace what is in the original cfg file. Tried that and still no landing lights. Has any of you come across this and maybe found a fix for this? It is a great download, would be nice to have that feature enabled, so I could finally call it COMPLETE!  Right now it is just a daytime flyer! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What download are you using?  Link/filename/download location?

Above is a shot of the IFDG A320 Jet Blue.  All lights work.  It may

be a matter of a missing effect or effect/texture file that is causing your

problem.

Charlie - I wish my landing lights worked like yours! Your download looks like the one I had originally, jblue320.zip, but I could not get it to fly properly. Wanted to turn left on takeoffs and disengagement of ILS landing approaches.

I gave up on it and downloaded a Delta A320, model by iDFG, and it flew great. Always a problem of some sorts! I do get a dim light on the nose gear, which appears to be the taxi light (verified by the panel switch), and I do get dim lights each side of the fuselage near the wing, which appears to be the landing lights (verified by the panel switch). They do not illuminate the runway, I could do better with a flashlight!

Even the developer had a readme text admitting he couldn't find the problem with the landing lights? Would a copy of your landing config help? I'd try it!

Don't know if using the [lights] section of the aircraft.cfg would do any good.  Developers

usually have the landing lights as part of the model.  They would normally use a default

effect for that.  I'll post the [lights] section anyway and then try a search for the Delta A320.

I did find a complete aircraft IFDG A320 Delta airlines download in the Library here.  The

download did not contain any effects files for any lights.  I un-installed all of my IFDG

effects and tried the aircraft.  The landing lights worked fine, but no other lights.  This

tells me that the landing lights are default effects.  You might try default aircraft like the

A-321, 737-800, 747-400 to see if those aircraft have working landing lights.

Charlie - Here is my light section. I did notice earlier that I had no red or green nav lights. I added the nav lights from another cfg file I found for an Airbus A320. I notice you have no entries in you light section for red/green nav lights, but I see the red nav light (port side) in the pic you showed. Maybe, like you say the nav lights and landing lights were built into the model. Oh well, I would rather have a well flying aircraft for daytime use. I guess you can't everything? I want it all, but I will accept being whipped on this one! In that I can't change the model, I will have to live with what I have!

Oh, by the way, check out the Wing strobes section, it looks nothing like yours; however all the other entries with the exception of Navigation lights, looks identical to yours. Not suggesting anything is wrong with yours, it's just strange that it is different!

Rick, did you test any of your default aircraft, like I suggested, to see if the landing light were OK on them?  I'll still bet Federation credits to Navy beans you are missing either some effects or effect/texture files.

I do have landing lights on the default 321. did not try the rest, but will!

Got landing lights on 321, 737 and 747

 

I do have another A320-214 Olympic Airlines, no issues at all with the exterior lights!

Something weird with the iDFG downloads, even the designer was at a loss with why the landing lights were not working!

GENERAL:

This plane comes with Ken Mitchells A320 custom panel.  It has been tested and seems to work okay
other than the Nav, Strobe and Beacon lights.  If you can find a solution to this problem let me
know, as I haven't been able to as yet.

Charlie - Don't worry about it, I have given up on it as a night flyer. It is a great download, I was hoping that something simple would bring the landing lights back to life!

OK, no problem!  One last thought since you mention a custom panel, are you just using panel

switches to turn on the lights?  If so, try hitting the L key instead.

Funny thing is, I have been flying Boeing's this morning. They are flawless and what a dream to fly. I have had my problems with some of the Airbus lines, but, I guess that makes the Boeing's feel that more appealing!

There's a lighting fix for the Project Airbus A319 on download section of Flyaway Sim if that would help.

Bob - I have since moved on to 2 other A320 freeware downloads, they even have landing lights, much better downloads that I had before! Thanks for your response just the same!
