Latest Ai Traffic Packages?

Recommended Posts

What are the most up to date AI traffic files (freeware and payware) for Fs2004? I currently have a traffic package from Wi 2015-16.

I find that it is still very much possible to have up to date AI traffic for FS9.  Some of the flight plans on my set up were getting to be a decade old so it was time for a refresh.   Off and on for the last few months I've been busy updating flight plans to summer 2017 and even winter of 2018.  There is no lack of these available for FS9.  These days, if you want up-to-date flightplans and liveries, it is a do it yourself situation unless you go payware.  As noted, Alpha India is an amazing resource for flightplans, as is the United Traffic Team  forums.  Still lots showing up in the library here.  There are also many sites that focus on the smaller airlines, charter operators, corporate and general aviation.  Many of the flightplan authors are kind enough to put in links to where liveries can be downloaded for the plans.  Most of "painters" now have their own websites but many of them have stopped producing FS9 versions of their work.  There are tools to convert the work, although it can be a little messy when it comes to lightmaps and alpha channels to make some of those "paints" work properly in FS9.  Not an insurmountable problem but it is time consuming. Especially for the newest FAIB models which require very specific alpha channels to make the various satellite and wifi domes to appear, or not appear, on the model in the sim.  You could occupy yourself for weeks putting together traffic for FS9 (but that also goes for the other platforms as well).  I sure miss the heady days when WOAI was putting this stuff together for us and all it took was one click on an auto installer to get AI traffic into the sim.  WOAI is still active but much, much less so than a decade ago.  We shouldn't complain too much because we do have dozens of talented enthusiasts out there churning out flight plans and liveries that we cans still use in FS9.  It just takes a lot more work to keep everything reasonably up to date.  I think the problem FS9ers will have to face is when AI aircraft developers stop doing FS2004 versions of their models.  That is already happening with FSPXAI (aka FSPainter), which has gone payware.
