FS2Crew FO

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Been enjoying FS2Crew the last few years. Great product. However, I would love to have the oportunity to fly as a first officer, and not only as a captain. Is this something that has ever been considered?

It's been considered, but it's complex.  A lot of the checklists and actions on the ground are initiated by the left seat pilot.  How would we know when to trigger certain events given that we can't really "see" the world like a human pair of eyes can.

To have a left seat pilot we need a level of AI that is well beyond the capability of flightsim.

I also imagine that some items that are handled by the captain will also have to be performed by the user who is in the FO seat. For example, on some aircraft, the Capt performs the taxi and after landing he takes control from the F.O.

It would indeed be complex and it may perhaps require some compromise here and there.

I once did FO Takeoffs.  You'll actually see them again in Maddog Reboot since I left it in.

I can be a bit hit and miss, especially if there's any wind.

Taxiing...  well.... keeping the plane out of the grass might be tough!
