Caribbean Trip - Day Three - Kansas City to Indy

Featured Replies

This trip closely matches a trip to the Cayman Islands that six of us made 6 years ago.  Fun to relive it so to speak through the simulator and add-on sceneries.  I try to do this each winter

Up off of KMKC and tuning east, leaving behind downtown Kansas City. Missouri, and Kansas City, Kansas, on opposite sides of the Missouri river.  You may see the Kansas river feeding in from the left.

At the bottom edge of the screen, in the center, you should be able to make out a grass mall, home of the National World War I memorial and museum.  If you ever visit Kansas City be sure to put that on your list. It overlooks with a grand view of downtown.   It is a tribute to all who gave their lives in that horrible and in ways incredible war. It is the most impressive war memorial I have ever visited.  I have not yet been to Normandy.

Passing over the east end of the Kansas City metro area with the two major stadiums, Arrowhead and Royal’s stadium, below, bordered on the left by Interstate 70.

Over Missouri and once again, back over the snow left by a storm earlier in the week, now chased by the late afternoon sun.

Crossing from Missouri into Illinois as sunset approaches, with reflections off of the Mississippi river.

At approach altitude near Indianapolis at sunset, just before my turn to final to Rwy 14 at Indianapolis International (KIND).

Met at the airport by our Indianapolis friends, we decided to show our Kansas couple a taste of Indianapolis, the home of the greatest spectacle in racing.  Our Colorado couple is originally from Indianapolis.

On to Ft Myers, Florida, tomorrow after switching aircraft from the PA46T to an F406 Caravan II.  Will be 8 on board.

Very nice screenshots...thank you for the tour of the Kansas City area...the big mid western cities with big rivers can be quite beautiful from the air...looking forward to the trip down south!

By the way, that Indy 500 Grill is in the airport main concourse at Indianapolis International Airport. Based on reports it is more about the reflection of the character of the city of Indianapolis, and less about the quality of the food.....
