May 21, 200620 yr I was thrilled the other day to find the "Amelia Earhart's 1937 World Flight Commemoration" package by Charles Wood (aewfv01.zip). The FSDB L10E is my default aircraft from my home airport (KLAF - Purdue). Thanks, and great job!I have started twice to duplicate her RTW flight, but gave up both times due to missing airports and an inaccurate fuel model.Charles mentions in his package that he uses a modified L10E package by Dave Bitzer and Norman Hancock, with improved flight dynamics, proper long-range fuel tanks, custom panels with new gauges; the Cambridge Engine Analyzer so crucial in Earhart's flights, a Sextant, a Drift Meter, and a pop-up E6-B Flight Computer. The file is mentioned as l10eaev*.zip. I've tried searching the library with no joy. Can anyone direct me to this?Regards,Kevin
May 21, 200620 yr Kevin: Yes, I was also excited to find Mr. Wood's posting. What a wealth of material he has given us over the years! Thank you Mr. Wood for a wonderfully detailed package. My very first ride in an airplane came in the Electra in 1964 from Hyannis to Nantucket, on the old PBA. Heady stuff for a 9 year old to ride in the same type that Amelia flew! The FS-Design website appears to not allow downloads of any type. Been trying for days. I downloaded the "Casablanca" L10 from simviation.com. Doesn't have all the "goodies", though. Wife's going out of town on a three day business trip. Would be a great time to do this. I thought about making the trip using the MAAM DC-3 float version, setting up some refueling stops along the way.Was just going to post here for some help. Perhaps some kind soul can lead us in the proper direction? "... speed ... is the only reason for flying." - Clyde V. Cessna
May 21, 200620 yr Hi Kevin,We had the L10E package all assembled to upload and an issue came up on the aircraft.Normally this would not have been much of a problem, Dave Bitzer would have either fixed it right away if it was real or pointed out what a good time my computer was having with me if it was something else. But Dave is away for the weekend so the earliest he will be able to look at it is tomorrow (Monday). I'm anticipating one way or the other we should post tomorrow.Let me see if I have any luck posting a couple of screenies (by Norman Hancock) of the panels.Charles Wood
May 21, 200620 yr Thanks for the update Charles. That explains why I couldn't find it. I was afraid I had missed it somewhere. Those screenshots look great. A more accurate L10E has been my number one wish for FS9 ever since FSDB came out with their mod on the L10A. I'll check back tomorrow. Looks like Monday night is booked!

By recommendation of the readme for the L10E, I am using Mike Hambly's P-40 sound. What do you think of it?>The FS-Design website appears to not allow downloads of any>type. Been trying for days. I did manage to find a copy you could download at...http://www.bobholland.com/fs/aircraft.htm
May 22, 200620 yr Author Charles, I belong to a long time group of Earhart researchers. One of our areas of research is the Cambridge Fuel analyzer. I notice that Norman Hancock did the panels for the 10E and the Cambridge analyzer has a dial indicator. I'm going to give you my email address that maybe you could forward to Norman. Basically I would like to know his reference sources for the real world gauge. Thanks [email protected]

May 25, 200620 yr Author JozefSince you gave us the tip on the Electra download I presume you have installed it.I'm trying to decide if I have a corrupt download or not.My eye-points are off which I can fix by tweaking. I have no VC instruments. On landing I had no crash placard BUT the tail sank into the ground when I tried to taxi off the runway. How is your Electra working?
May 25, 200620 yr I just took it for a short flight. I don't have any VC gauges either and the eyepoints are a bit off for me also. I have no idea what the proper eyepoint is but I'll probably change it a bit just as a personal preference. I don't have the problem you see with the tail dragging, i.e., the tailwheel sits just as it should. But...none of that really matters. I'm just so excited to have this package I'll fly anything that's close. I'd about given up on FS9 due to boredom but this package has gotten the juices flowing again. I did the Earhart flight back in FS98 and am REALLY looking forward to doing it again. Many thanks go to Charlie and all the gang who helped put this together.DougEdited 'cause I can't spel Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. May 25, 200620 yr Daryll,I don't have VC gauges either. I notice that there is no VC section in the panel.cfg. As I mostly fly from the 2D cockpit, this is not a real issue for me.I did not notice anything strange about the eye-point in 2D. In the virtual cockpit it IS very strange, but as said before, there is no VC section in the panel.cfg, this might explain it.No problems with the tail wheel here. Nice landing and taxiing to the ramp at Rotterdam (EHRD), after a short trip from Ostend (Belgium).Jozef K. http://homepages.onsnet.nu/~jkusters/signature.jpg
May 25, 200620 yr FellowsNote that by default, the aircraft is way overweight with extra fuel, as it was when Amelia trotted off on her little jaunt. This gives you a 2% or more nose up attitude, which might give the impression of incorrect view angle. Try lightening her up and see the difference. As for VC ... this was not included in this first release, but will be in a forthcoming update, I am told.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
May 25, 200620 yr Author I never checked the fuel load. Thanks. It looks like the Electra in flight sim has a max landing weight. When they took off from Lae they were about 5000 lbs over gross. It kinda gives gross weight a new meaning.
