May 20, 200620 yr The Vought F-8 Crusader listed on the front page today is a tremendous freeware plane. Thanks a lot to our French friends for providing this. It's an excellent model with several liveries, a 2-D panel and a V/C. I haven't figured out all the effects yet, because the instructions are in French, but it's a sweet flyer.I posted a few screenies over in the Screenshot Forum.Jim
May 20, 200620 yr Author I got it too. Did you have any problem installing it? I did not notice that the default setting sent it to Flight Simulator9 not Flight Simulator 9 as we usually have. Once I figured that out and reinstalled it all was OK. The panels and models are GREAT! There are several missing gauges which I have asked the originator to add for us. If you can figure out all of the settings please post them here. I am no expert in French. Happy flying. BobF.
May 20, 200620 yr Author Hi. How do we operate the weapons? There are some missing gauges:VthMb.gauFDPA_Boeing_Callout_0001.gaudsd_xml_sound.gauShould it be dsd_xml_sound3.gau?Also there is no Radio_Alt_Switch in the Crusader.gau. There is a Radio_ALTi-Switch I believe. Should it be that one? Regards, Bob.
May 20, 200620 yr In the readme, they said to back up your FS9.cfg. Did they make changes to the FS9.cfg file on installation? Why?Is there a VC?Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-) Tom Perry
May 20, 200620 yr Yeah, I ran into the same problem on installation. Went into FS9 and it didn't show up. Discovered it had installed it into a different (similar) folder. Copied it back into FS9 and all was fine.I don't seem to have any missing gauges.Yes, there's a very good V/C with a lot of clickable switches and knobs.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/149600.jpgJim
May 20, 200620 yr Author Do a check of your panel.cfg's with FSPanelStudio or do it manually and you will note the following missing gauges:VthMb.gauFDPA_Boeing_Callout_0001.gaudsd_xml_sound.gauShould it be dsd_xml_sound3.gau?Also there is no Radio_Alt_Switch in the Crusader.gau. There is a Radio_ALTi-Switch I believe. Should it be that one? I sent a message to the author and he responded saying that the VthMb is missing. You can get it at:http://www.rasasso.org/ras2006/index.htmlI did go there. It is in the VRH140 file which is under the Telechargements heading. You have to download it and run it. I don't know what it is as it is all explained in French. If anyone figures out what it does please let us know. He said the others were not needed but I sent him another e-mail about them.I think the Radio_Alt_Switch one is a typo. It should be like the others in the panel.cfg (Radio_ALTi-Switch). The dsd gauge may be a typo too and should have been dsd_xml_sound3.gau. If I hear back from the author I'll post it here. Regards, Bob.
May 20, 200620 yr Thanks, that looks beautiful. They really should mention it in their writeup. What about their comment about backing up FS9.cfg?Did anyone bother to do that? Did they make any changes to it?Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-) Tom Perry
May 21, 200620 yr Author Have you tried the guns or rockets yet? I got the underwing missiles to work OK and with sound. I got the wing mounted rockets to work with sound on the left but no sound on the right side.I have not had any luck with the cannons or Bulpups. I sure hope someone figures it all out. Regards, BobF.
May 21, 200620 yr There's a button at the bottom of the VthMb page that converts the page into reasonably passable English. Although there are a few funnies in brackets where it isn't quite sure how to translate things. It's the "reverso" button - press the one that says English (left hand, if I remember correctly).Ian P.
May 21, 200620 yr I haven't figured it out yet. Is there a 2-D weapons panel somewhere? I haven't found it. And the weapons panel in the VC doesn't match what they show in their pictures in the DOCS folder. Spots that they show to click are not clickable. Maybe I'm just missing something.Jim
May 21, 200620 yr Author The panel is called Icones with a ^ over the "o". You are right there are spots that show in the docs that are not clickable. I finally got some of the cannons to work by using the switches and the Parking Brake key. Once you key it the cannon shoots in bursts until the ammo is gone or you again key the parking brake. Regards, BobF.
May 21, 200620 yr Author It does on mine because I added a toggle icon! I think you can use Shift and the panel number which is 8 or 9 as I remember. You can also use Alt then go to Views-Instrument Panel and go to Icones which is the hard way. Regards, Bob.
