May 22, 200620 yr Hi,I have been simming for many years but only recently have had a problem. My propeller aircraft (both add on and default) seem to bank to the left or right for no apparent reason. This started when I installed Carenados c206 Stationair, and once that plane started doing it, so did many more. All my jet aircraft are fine, and so surprisingly is my Carenado c210, but the rest of my props- single and double, all do it.The bank increases with time, and gets steeper and steeper and steeper. The only way to stop it is to press CTRL+H to hold me heading in autopilot. This really annoys me as I am a bush pilot and enjoy exploring, which I can't do very much of now.I have run through all the possible causes for my problems, including wind, fuel, turbulence, rudder, auopilot and joystick, and I even re-installed my fs2004 copy to a different harddrive, and removed the original, still to have the same problem. No one has been able to help me so far, I have tried many other forums and also Microsoft
May 22, 200620 yr Nice Spiral dive (-: "I have run through all the possible causes for my problems, including wind, fuel, turbulence, rudder, auopilot and joystick, and I even re-installed my fs2004 copy to a different harddrive, and removed the original, still to have the same problem."Maybe you have already tried this, but just incase you haven't, try adjusting the torque effect slider. May 22, 200620 yr It would appear that your fuel selector is set to draw fuel from the left tank only. Set it to "Both." R-
May 23, 200620 yr Thanks for the replies. All my realisum settings are on easy, so I don't think it is the torque or g-effects.As for the fuel selectors, I don't know how to change these on aircraft like the C206 or Maule, is there an option I can do this with? Thanks again.
May 23, 200620 yr Hi,Does it do this with all your aircraft? even the heavies? With the autopilot engaged will the planes fly ok? If you disengage the a/p do they all start to spiral straightaway? On autopilot are the trim wheels set to neutral or are they all offset everywhere? How about the glider? If the glider does this as well, I guess it's a general balance problem, but if not it may be something to do with the fuel system.Have you checked 'fuel and payload'?Are the trimming wheels all set to neutral?Andy.

Tha changes will still be in effect. R-
May 23, 200620 yr Note: This has been edited to show FSUIPC findings immediately after I first posted a few seconds ago.Hello C.T.I know the feeling.A little different from your find but possibly kin to it. I have wandering aircraft on the taxi strip unless I work like a dog on the foot pedals.I had this problem for some time without knowing what induced it and then had a complete computer crash (nothing to do with the wandering left bit).I had assumed that it was my CH foot pedals as I have gone through the broken wire splice routine multiple times over the years, but to my surprise after reloading everything, aircraft would taxi straight as an arrow (with torgue and P factor disabled). Immediately after my first Joystick calibration setup in FSUIPC, again every aircraft I have regardless of whether it is a jet or prop wants to wander to the left (Again even if "P" factor and "torque" are turned off). Note that when the problem was present, in order to see if it was "P" factor or "torque" with multiple aircraft I have built up a fast taxi speed, cut the engines and feathered the props and it still wants to drift left. I realize that the factor may be modeled in FS regardless of whether engines are running or not.A secondary problem immediately after my FSUIPC calibration is that my footpedals do not release the parking brake (again). This is no biggy as keyboard actuation and/or release works fine. I had this problem before but did not notice that it originated after the FSUIPC calibration. THIS IS NOT INTENDED AS A BASH ON FSUIPC which is a great contribution to flightsim. Probably it is something I have overlooked in their joystick calibration procedures, however if I reset rudder control amd try to go back to what might be the prior default, the problem now remains. No problem in the air, just on the ground. Now what does this have to do with your problem? Sounds to me like it could be an offset relative to FSUIPC joystick calibration of either ailerons or rudder, or for that matter both (assuming that you are implementing FSUIPC). If you have already tried this, ignore me but I would suggest that you try recalibrating joystick settings in FSUIPC. If it still does the same thing, try resetting them and see if this has any effect.Good luck:RTHEdit: I discovered that when I thought I had reset my FSUIPC Joystick Calibration for Rudders, I never pressed "SET" again.I just went through that procedure, clicking Reset, then Set, BUT this time I DID NOT RECALIBRATE but accepted the default readings. Taxi's straight as an arrow again. I realize this sounds backwards, but it works for me. (Except footpedals still do not release the parking brake)I again would suggest that you experiment a bit with your FSUIPC Joystick Calibration settings a bit and see if it helps.Happy flying:RTH
May 24, 200620 yr Thanks for the many replies.I have tried flying the glider- and had no problems. When I set on autopilot, all is fine, untill I disengauge it, then the problem continues.I very much suspect that the issue lies with the'FSUIPC' calibration as I have recieved 'FSUIPC' errors in the past. This confuses me though as I thought 'FSUIPC' was a payware product, yet I have never payed for it, and am guessing it came bundled with another package I installed? Anyway, what I would like to know is how do I find the'FSUIPC' calibration controls, because, if it worked for you RTH, it should work for me :)Thanks again for all your support,CT
May 24, 200620 yr Hi,FSUIPC has a payware element, but these cover 'extras' I think, such as add-on weather programs. It can be used freely and if bundled with a download would be usable freely for that download application. Interfacing with gauges perhaps ? I have no problem with FSUIPC and I only have a freeware version. When you say you have no problems with the glider, do you mean it will glide normally and if you don't touch the controls it will continue in a straight line?Last thought (mad thought 67): try a plane with only say, fuel on the opposite side to the spiral and see whether that makes any difference. There was a post a long time ago about aircraft wandering about due to the prop spinning, but they were on the ground.I wouldn't think it is anything to do with FSUIPC and more likely to be a setting from a previous flight which carries over all the time, until you set up a new default flight. Guess only I'm afraid.Andy.ps;When you set up the autopilot, have you checked to see whether your trim wheels alter? Usually you would get trimmed right and then set the autopilot so nothing much would change but in your case you might see things move more than they should and that might give you further clues.
May 24, 200620 yr Hello again:I fear that without the payware FSUIPC, you may not have the joystick calibration capability. I don't know this for sure, but would suspect it.I have continually had the payware version (evolved from what use to be all freeware) so I really am not familar with what is or is not included with a bundled package. I would suspect that provisions would be unique to the package with which it was included and do nothing for you with anything else, but I am not sure.As others have mentioned, it sure sounds like a trim situation to me. If you have aileron or rudder trim for the aircraft in question,Try trimming in the opposite direction of the direction your aircraft wants bank and turn. If the panel for the aircraft in question does not have aileron or rudder trim, check your keyboard assignments and use the proper key (Assign something if necessary). Sorry, but I am stumped.RTH
May 25, 200620 yr Hi,>>>I fear that without the payware FSUIPC, you may not have the joystick calibration capability. I don't know this for sure, but would suspect it.<<
May 25, 200620 yr Sorry Andy:What I should have said was that "without the payware FSUIPC, you may not have the joystick clibration" - "in packaged FSUIPC provisions". I just don't know.Happy flying:RTH
May 26, 200620 yr >When you say you have no problems with the glider, do you mean>it will glide normally and if you don't touch the controls it>will continue in a straight line?Yep, thats it exactly what happens.>Last thought (mad thought 67): try a plane with only say, fuel>on the opposite side to the spiral and see whether that makes>any difference. There was a post a long time ago about>aircraft wandering about due to the prop spinning, but they>were on the ground. This also happens to me. My aircraft drift to the left/right when accelerating down the runway, but not at slow speeds when taxing. I tried emptying left/right tanks, but my aircraft just bank more extreamly. I tried removing all fuel from my tanks (starting with 0%) but have the same banking problem as before.>ps;When you set up the autopilot, have you checked to see>whether your trim wheels alter? I'm sorry I am not sure what you mean. All I can see are elevator and rudder trim wheels, but they don't alter when I turn on autopilot. When I press CTRL+H the wings rock though. As for FSUIPC, I searched my PC (Even the hidden files but could only find a file called 'FSUI.DLL' in my fs9/modules folder. I deleted it, started flightsim and it said there had been an error, so I replaced it and am continuing on with the same problem. The strange thing is- I installed fs2004 on the family PC which has never had the game or any joystick installed on it before, then I installed the Carenado C206 and had exactly the same problem!
May 26, 200620 yr Have you checked to see whether there is a co-pilot/front-seat passenger in the aircraft? (Aircraft/Fuel and Payload menu)This happens to me when I fly the Maule (and some other aircraft including the Stationair). I have invariably discovered that when the plane banks to the left, I haven't got a co-pilot and the aircraft is unbalanced.Might be worth trying, unless you already have! It now flys straight in the air after adding a co-pilot weight in the payload box, but steers off the the left/right on the runway for somereason. The Stationair already had an even payload, so I tried emptying all of the payload spaces, and replacing the weights with "0" Unfortuantly it had no effect..Anymore ideas guys?
