Captainsim 767?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I've been debating whether to purchase Captainsim's 767-300 for P3D v3. I use Windows 10 and after reading several previous threads, I've come to the conclusion that the Level-D 767 doesn't work particularly well on Windows 10.

I've read that using the Estonia Migration Tool is the most popular method to install the CS 767 into P3D. Rather than spending an extra 12 euros on something that I'll only use once (this will be the only FSX product that I'll install), is there an alternative way to install it i.e. renaming my P3D.exe to fsx.exe and just running the installer normally? Or does this method lead to malfunctions and problems later on when in the sim?

Thanks for the replies in advance.

I wouldn’t use the EMT, I’ve head too many horror stories of it wrecking sims past the point of repair. There is speculation that CaptainSim might produce a new 767 after their 757, but again it’s just speculation at this point. I personally wouldn’t try installing it into a sim that it isn’t compatible with, that’s just asking for trouble. I do seem to recall the Level-D 767 getting an update to P3D v3 and Windows 10, what issues have you been reading about with it in Win10?

I have actually just discovered this Level-D update but comparing the two aircraft, the Captainsim seems to be slightly better than the Level-D one.

There's a lot of videos on Youtube about how P3D works fine with the Captainsim with only the top of descent bug remaining which can easily be fixed.

I think I might just install the Captainsim 767 into P3D manually and see how it goes.

Thanks for the help!

I had it installed in p3dv3, I can’t remember for sure how I did it.  I either just installed it right in to p3d or i installed it into a fsx steam install that i had for just that purpose and then copied the files over manually.  Actually as I type this I think it was the latter.

Either way, once i had it installed it worked fine, I actually miss it in v4 and hopefully we’ll see a v4 767 eventually.

Having said that, once the leveld version became available I used that...not as pretty but better syatems depth and generally better to fly.  This was on windows 7 though.
