@Easton Williams Continuing your thread from The Prepar3d Forum to here The RXP Support Forum. Did you get the 750 setup alright?

I have it setup correctly, thanks

The only issue is screen brightness, I had to go into P3D settings and put the Bloom to 0 from 0.8 because anything higher than zero and I cant see it, how could I fix this? Because without bloom the sim is depressing looking

On the GTN Home screen click on the System key then Backlight.

Thanks for helping, really. I just am still not sure about the GTN 750.

Is there a fix for when the aircraft is off, and to make it turn on when the aircraft power turns on? When I go into the aircraft it is already on, but I cant physically change anything on it, so it is supposed to be off like all of the other avionics. That kind of kills the realism. Also, why is the 2d version better lit and have richer, more realistic colors? For instance the green on the 2d version is dark green, and the VC version is way too brightly lit even after dialing it down 10%.

I like it, but at the same time it is not a seamless, finished product, I had to manually install those files, and I assume it is not compatible with the other aircraft I have unless those same files can also be used on them, and if they cant then I can only use it in one aircraft. I read that it was compatible with the A2A aircraft and bought it, I did not know it was not fully compatible and I don't know if it will ever be updated by A2A and Reality XP to actually reinstall it in these aircraft the right way. I have been simming for a while and have seen many developers take their precious time on things that you would imagine should get done in a day, I am not sure if I will be left hanging around waiting for something that will never happen.

Also, I am not sure this is the culprit, but it is likely, my GPU usage went to 100% in P3D. That has never happened before, the GPU spikes to 100, stays there, then drops to 30 and does this constantly, I turned off the GTN 750 and GPU usage went to 50-75%, that high of usage made P3D a stutter mess.

@Easton Williams Hi, there are settings to cope with each aircraft specifics which might help perfect the integration further for your system.

First things first: the Reality XP GTN 750/650 Touch is compatible with nearly all aircraft. You can always configure the GTN to any panel simply using the Reality GTN Touch Panel Configuration Assistant. It is very easy, executes in-sim live, and is an instantly rewarding experience.

Integration in the 3D cockpit requires 'some' manual editing only because each 3D cockpit is different. Please note the differences are not only in terms of gauge type and location, it is also in terms of panel design 'technology' each vendor come up with. In effect, Flight Simulator offers many different levels of modelling and lighting techniques, some inherited from FSX, some new with each FltSim version, and vendors use a mix.

This is why there is an increasing number of aircraft vendors offering pre-made Reality XP configuration for their aircraft. Should they don't, please lobby them!

As for lighting, you can manually override per-gauge instance bezel and screen independently. Here is a recap of lighting settings:

  • In the GTN Settings | Brightness: it is the adjustment like the real device, per-device.
  • In the GTN RXP GUI Settings Panel: integral lighting for screen and keys, per-aircraft.
  • In the GTN Settings file in the aircraft folder (RealityXP.GTN.ini): each GTN gauge instance set in the panel.cfg file can have its own 'rendering' settings

About the 'rendering settings':

Every single GTN gauge reference in the panel.cfg file (a gauge instance) use a per-gauge setting, otherwise, all GTN gauge instances collectively use the same default rendering settings as set in the typical [GTN_###_1.DEFAULT] section of the ini file.

You can set a specific 'rendering' section with the 5th parameter on the gauge##= line (see User's Manual for details, or the panel configuration thread for examples). In this section you'll find:

; adjust brightness (0 to 100)
brightness.bezel = 100
; offset brightness (-100 to +100)
brightness.screen = 0

These settings serve the purpose of 'counter-balancing' the way FltSim lights the gauges. For example, should you set brightness.screen = -100, this will change the 'reference' light much darker and counter the bloom tremendously.

What could be done about the GPU usage? It is skyrocketing to 100% then plummeting to half that every few seconds, it has not done this before and it is making my sim stutter.

What are your system specs?

I'm seeing no more than 55% usage, 30's fps, Comanche, GTN750 w/popup, FlyTampa Boston, UTLive set at 70% airline density, Clear skies.
Not until I loaded ASP4 weather w/overcast & rain at KBOS did it climb to 100% & 25 fps. So the GTN750 showed no increase on my system. Just the weather caused a spike in my GPU usage.

I know P3D is mostly CPU dependent, but I have a AMD Fury 1000mhz 4gb HBM GPU, anI5 6600k CPU running at 4.5ghz, 16gb of RAM and the sim is on an SSHD now instead of an SSD.

I get 50-60fps at 4k resolution nearly all of the time, I have textures maxed, the water on low, terrain shadows off, and the rest is pretty much maxed out, FXAA instead of MSAA.

I am getting the same FPS but now the GPU usage goes to 100%, without the GTN 750 it stays around 60% or so, but now it spikes like crazy causing stuttering, and it is definitely the GTN 750, I tested it last night and decided it couldn't be anything else after turning it off and not seeing 100% GPU usage.

I know my GPU is not the best on the market right now, but it should not be running at 100% because of a small screen in a virtual cockpit, my PDMG and other aircraft run fine. And when I flew the weather was clear.

Hi,

The GTN uses the video card resources along side FltSim. They therefore 'fight' to share the available resources, and you video card seems way appropriate enough to run both at the same time.

We especially further optimize the Garmin GTN Trainer, while it is under the control of our gauge, so that to lower its GPU resources by nearly 50%, and its CPU usage by another 75%, and its RAM usage by nearly 90%.

In other words (shameless plug): not all GTN are born equal in the FltSim world...

Having said this, one thing you might want to try out is: run FltSim without the GTN, and launch the GTN trainer standalone alongside. Does it affects the FPS/GPU the same way?

Another thing to look for: do you use anything like 'Process Lasso'?

Last but not least: you might have settings in your GPU panel which are affecting the GTN somehow? It will be difficult to give you directions as-is, but if you have any chance to share a screenshot of your AMD config panel, I might be able to give you a couple ideas to try?

I am going to completely clean install everything this next week. I am having issues all of the sudden with the A2A lighting as well, the strobes on the outside of the aircraft are flashing black.

I don't know what the issue is, but I don't remember having stuttering, flashing black strobes, gpu usage at 100% before installing the GTN.

Also, I tried putting the brightness at -100 and it stayed the same... Next week when I go through this monstrosity of flight sim files, installing everything, I am going to test it before I install the GTN and see what happens. I am not liking having to do all of this myself when it should be compatible... I'm in 18hrs of college, spending a lot of time out of college learning and working, I sometimes have time to fly in my sim and have waiting for the GTN 750 for months, then after installing it and going through all of this it is taking up my time.

I guess I will have to put everything on hold for a week and if it still does not work wait until it is fully compatible then buy it.

Hi, it is unfortunate the out-the-box experience is not as smooth as you'd expected, and I'm sorry for this.

Most our customers have a seamless installation to configuration to flying experience, and I'm sure you'll get there too in not time.

I can't thank enough all others customers that have helped you so far, and I'm sure you know you're in good hands in this forum too!
