Anyone tried FSiPanel?

Featured Replies

Has anyone got any experience of this addon which is marketed by Flight1? It is a training aid, devised by an airline pilot, which apparently mirrors real world airline simulator practice and sets up aircraft at one of many optional positions on approach. It's use however is limited to a few high quality aircraft but as I have 9 of these in my hangar I am tempted to try this as I particularly enjoy practising approaches into various airports in bad weather scenarios using AS16 with which it appears compatible. It is however a little expensive so I thought I would try to get some opinions before buying it,

I have it, its only recently been updated for V4 is last month or so. I've never really got my monies worth out of it to be fair, but that's more down to me.

Its very good if you like to practice approaches a lot, it can also trigger failures etc if your into that kind of thing. With regards to the weather, I don't use it with AS16. The built in weather scenario options are pretty good, you can set the weather your self, real world weather or historically(which is what I prefer to do) There are also a few presets set CAT1/2/3.

With regards to the price you are correct, it Is expensive. Before the v4 update you had access to all the aircraft the software supported, so as long as you had the aircraft you could use it in fsipanel. But in the new version a token system was introduced. You now need to use pre purchased tokens to unlock them in fsipannel, the price for 1 token is $10, or 3 for $25. I got 3 token included when I upgraded my license from the old one, I instantly activated PMDG 737/474/777 so had no tokens left. Since then afew other aircraft I own have been released such as the Q400 and a few days ago the FSlabs 320. I purchased a token to unlock the 320, but I don't think I'll bother with the Q400.

Also, I'm not 100% certain, but I think the Flight1 version is the pre V4 version. He sells the new V4 direct on his website.

Edit: Forgot I was in the FSX:SE forum, so forget about all the v4 stuff.

Thanks for the info and your helpful views on this! I actually went ahead and bought it yesterday as it seemed to be what I wanted from what I had read about it. Although relatively expensive, as I am still on FSX it gives me access to all the supported aircraft for the purchase price and, as I already have 9 of them, hopefully I should get my money's worth out of it! I also like being able to use any of the non-supported aircraft with it and although the functionality of these is somewhat more limited in terms of how FSiP sets them up, it is still a very useful feature.

At this stage I am still getting to grips with FSiPanel (needed a couple of readings of the manual!) but so far I am very pleased with this addon which seems well designed, does what it claims and provides me with just what I needed to shoot lots of different approaches in challenging weather.
