Adding airfield

Featured Replies

My mate has his own airfield, it doesn't come up under the P3D airport list, how would i go about adding it?

Cheers

Hi portfox,

Not that I have any experience in this area,  but it would be good to know where in the world the airfield is located, maybe a GoogleEarth snapshot, and some Lat Long Co-ordinates would be helpful to those able to answer your question.

Go to FSDeveloper site / forum. There are some free tools you can use to add/change airfields. You will need ADE (Airport Design Editor) for sure. Other tools are SBuilderX (to get your background photo to work with and (or) for your photo scenery.

The learning curve is long mate....

I thought that might be the case 'long learning curve'

Its an Aussie airstrip in Qld. Privately owned, ICAO is YWYR.

Thanks for the info.

Steve

Hello Steve (portfox),

Well after a little investigation I have some good news for you, both the strip and the ICAO are listed and selectable, albeit a different ICAO for Wyreema" but it will require some downloading/installing from OZx.  Funny thing is, that the OZx ICAO for the very nicely modelled "Wyreema Private strip" is listed in the airfields list as "Wyreema - ICAO  YZWY - Queensland - Australia"

I've checked "SkyVector" and Private Strip YWYR is listed as "Wyreema Private Airstrip- YWYR".
S27 40.00  E151 51.30  Alt 1750.
Its just over the hill from "Brisbane West Wellcamp - YBWW" and "Toowoomba - YTWB"

If you install "OZx AU complete" (all versions 3.0  3.1  3.2  3.3  3.4  3.5 and OZx libs v1.0  1.1  1.2) for FSX/P3D http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/files/file/1825-single-links-ozx-au-complete-ozx-na-complete-ozx-libraries/ There is also modified library update for P3D users (See the forum).

But since OZx traditionally don't use Afcads for the many small AU strips, preferring map and wizzwheel Bearing/Distance/Time from an afcaded airfield close by, an afcad needed to be added for YZWY to see the airfield on map/GPS and in the Airfield list.
You should also grab the "340+ Selectable GPS locations" which will allow you to see "Wyreema Private strip YZWY" in your airfield list, and in your GPS/map by adding the missing afcad ICAO.
