June 14, 200619 yr Hello,My limited understanding of junction points has me under the impression that I could move my FS installation to another drive without worrying about registry issues or reinstalling. In addition, it sounds like you could still install add-ons using the default path but they would actually be installed on the new drive. Is this at all correct?Does anybody have any suggestions on an easy way to accomplish this? Will there be any performance it by doing this? Of course, I am trying to improve performance and I don't want to negate the improvement.Thanks. June 15, 200619 yr Author You are more or less correct. I have set up two junction points (Softlinks) for my "Scenery" and "Addon Scenery" folders. You need to download software to do this, for although WinXP supports it, the software is not provided. Try this:http://www.elsdoerfer.info/ntfslink/What I basically did was move my entire "Scenery" folder to another drive. You then use the NTFSLink (puts a menu item in Explorer so it is easy) to create a special softlink called "Scenery" in the FS9 folder. The softlink is essentially a folder with a link to the other folder. (Warning - you cannot just use the "Create folder" option in explorer, that wont work). You must delete the old folder and create the junction point.Any software that tries to read/write to FS9Scenery will now actually read the new folder you have set up. It works fine on my system. The only limitation is that softlinks cannot be accessed over a network. It works a treat and I think I will soon have to move my "Aircraft" folder as it is filling up the hard disk quickly!
